Howdy Everyone, My apologies to those who have tried to download the movie,as I stated in my previous post i was able to download it, and I did get the dowmload dialog box....but now that I've tried it again after reading mc's post it appears that it isnt working again. There must be something freaky goin on over at Tripod, give it a day or so and then try again.

'K Chach,,, I use Tripod myself and I know they screw up sometimes ("They" maybe it's ME!) Image
Anyhow looking forward to this d/l.
Dunno if this will be any help but Winterkill alerted me to a d/l prob with Tripod in that where one can normally point to "http://members.tripod.com/emcee4/(imagefilename)" the link did not work as I thought it would and I had to use "http://emcee4.tripod.com/(filename)" to get an image file downloaded.
I think the answer is maybe that you have to use the "http://members.tripod.com/(membername)/(filename)" for .zip files or anything other than images.... just guessing/speculating.

Still no go, even at this link

However, looking more closely, notice when you mouse over the link, there is a ?1 at the end of the file name. I suspect this has something to do with it. So, a suggestion to Chachoze : can you make an html page that links only to this file? Then send us to that page, instead of the direct link.

P.S. Even if you go straight to the directory where the file is located, you still can't download it. Very strange.

My turn to be curious.

Above, you have the link to be this http://members.tripod.com/smr_tnt/movies/MTMmovie.zip

On your menu, you give it to be this
http://smr_tnt.tripod.com/Objects/ReplayMTM2.zip

Was there a reason for the switch? I'm talking about the Objects/movies folders, not the way we get to yer site.

Also, in the menu, you use the full url. Could you please try using a relative one instead. For example, instead of this:

param name="url" valuetype="ref" value="http://smr_tnt.tripod.com/Objects/ReplayMTM2.zip"

try this

param name="url" valuetype="ref" value="Objects/ReplayMTM2.zip"

The same thing applies to most sites that block direct links.

edit: brackets removed to show the code

Hey Phin, I found out why it doesnt work...I normally use MS Frontpage 2000 to make changes to my website and to upload stuff to it. Apparently if I try to upload something to the site without using Frontpage(for instance CuteFtp) Tripod doesnt recognize it because it is a MS FP enabled website and I didnt use FP to upload it. Looks like there are some FP files on my site which is basically a list of everything on the site and if it isnt updated with FP to show anything new that is added, it isnt recognized by the site and Tripod even though it is there.
Soooo, I am currently working with FP to correct the situation. If all goes well I should have it ready a little later this evening.

Ok Everyone, I think I finaaly got it fixed. I attempted to d/l it twice and it worked both times. Can soemone please give it a try and let me know if it works??? I hope it does. Click on the "MTM MOVIE" button on the first page of my website.
(ps.the 2nd time I tried to d/l it it was slow, so if you dont get the download dialog box right away, please wait a minute or two, it should come up eventually) Movie

Well, I was thinking of that as a last resort type of thing....is it ok with u? Also, is it alright if I leave my Sig at that spot for a short while too? I thought that I had read a post you put up some time ago on the regular mtm bbs, about letting people use that upload feature to put a pics for a short time...is this not correct???
anyways, have you tried to d/l the video from my site since my last post?

Hi Phin, I uploaded that movie to your pics directory, when your done looking at it go ahead and delete it from that directory whenever you have time. You can remove my signature from there to...

I'm glad you liked it MC....

Well, actually, you can get the movie here . Big file for twenty-five seconds. Is there anyway to either 1) reduce size or 2) increase play length? In either case, I thought it look great. But, man oh man, where you'd learn how to drive, lol.

p.s. get that sig back on your posts.

I honed my driving skills and the school of "Hard Kocks" he-he-he....
It is possible to make the file size smaller by either converting it into an mpeg file or by applying a heftier compression ratio when either being recorded or with an editing utility. Keep in mind that the more it is compressed, the blurrier or less crisp the image will be.
The program I used to record (HyperCam), gives the option to either record fullscreen uncompressed or fullscreen compressed and allows you to choose different compression programs within it as well as the amount of compression you desire which will shrink the size of the file. It will also record sound.
You can also record as much as you want of the replay, which I think is only 1 lap or take bits and peices or different replays and put them together which as you seen is what I did.
I originally recorded uncompressed because it takes a lot of horsepower(which I dont have much of)to run the game and record&compess at the same time. There may be other recording programs out there that might support Glide or OpenGl as well......
Maybe people can use this method or something similar to display streaming video "PREVEIWS" of their tracks or something...
Give it a try yourself, I would be interested to see what you come up with Image

Absolutely. I think it's a great idea. I wouldn't mind seeing an mpeg version - just to see how it turns out - but yes, I have the card to try some of this and I plan on it as soon as I can tie up everything else I'm doing. A person can't work on two things and do justice to both. Having said that, I guess I should build a new track so I have something to preview, lol. Btw, I've also been wanting to record an old vinyl lp and put it on cd (and prolly mp3 as well) but I still haven't got to that yet either. Bear with me, I think this is a great idea that should be followed up somemore. I hope you post on the main mtm bbs too. Let's see what the rest of the traffic thinks.

Ya, I think I'm going to try making another video again only this time make it longer and convert it into streaming mgeg. Tripod supports Steaming video on its members pages. I'm curious(again..lol) to see how that pans out and whether or not it would be practical or worth the time and webspace....

He-he-he-he...lol...
Well maybe we can round up a few more onlookers....lol
Yes,it can be converted to real player streaming video as well as all of the different forms of video mpeg, and I would imagine it could even be used in something like Flash or Shockwave....
I'm going to try to make a short video out of all 3 types(real, flsh & Shockave) to see which works best...

Wroking with flash 4 alot, I would suggest you don't do showckwave only because...

1)Looks Terrible
2)Isn't the fastest.. (compared to mpeg or real)
3)Is a huge file for people with 56k's and such

Any way tho, just stick with video type formatting, flash (shockwave) is more interactive

my $2 or $3
