Tutorial Video Ideas

Post by OG_RuDeE »

I saw on another post that some video tutorials would be helpful to the community. Obviously, anyone should chip in who likes to do that stuff, but I am happy to make as many as I can. One wonderful thing about YouTube is that it can reach people who want to try modding and have never heard of the game before, and with all of the recent updates to the game, tools, etc... it's never been easier or looked as good.

So, I'm wondering, what are some topics that would help people?

Ideas:
-Basics of creating normal maps in Gimp for trucks (track textures too, though I haven't mastered that yet)
-Overall truck creation basics in the modern age
-Overview of new Traxx / BinEdit features and how to use them (separate videos)

If you have ideas, please feel free to share.

Yeah that would work. I would like to do updates but there still quite a few things to add to MTM2 and would rather focus on that. What I was thinking was to add entries to MTMG for traxx/binedit that focus specifically on the new updates since the original work flow is more or less the same. Would still do it in text/pictures format too when I get around but having videos would also help and I could just embed them on the website.

Here's a little video on normal maps for MTM2: https://youtu.be/wS3-cOH5eX4

Edit: Reminder of this tool too for making normal maps: https://cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Online/
It will handle the RGB channels for you, and you need to edit the alpha channel appropriately. On 0x29 face type clear (black alpha) = shiny, opaque (white alpha) = flat.

Thanks, Kmaster. :) I'll keep chipping away at them as I have time.
