New Site is up

Post by Fila »

If you go to the front door, the new site is up. Things still need slowly updating and I have to double check for broken things but this is pretty much the new look/beaviour.

You now have to log in to to download. Even though the login is the same as the forum, the website is treated differently so cookies are separate.

If you click on your profile, you can now make truck and track lists. Once you make one, go to the track/truck page and you will see a box at the right of the truck/track entry. You can use that to add them to the list.

For tracks, if you guys post the .ini file here, I can upload the ini and match it to your file list. If this becomes popular enough I might consider letting people upload their own without me having to act as an intermediary.

Oh, and you can share your lists and profile!

Also people with multiple entries get their own mini-page.

I'm loving what I'm seeing so far. It was only a matter of time before the old website was just about due for an overhaul, not to mention the JTrackViewer at last!

MTMG and MTM2 sites looks great! Love the mini-page idea! MTM2.com had shifted text at the top for me (on MS Edge). Ctrl+Shift+R clears cache and gets the site looking as it should for chrome based browsers.

i like the rehaul so far. The top description on the front page was needed, did the game really ship with tracked2 from the start? I had no idea.

the new top navbar is great! any option to have it enabled on the forum also?

I kinda miss the blue menu in MTMG, even tho I was having issues with it on Chrome. I remember it was a big deal back in the day when it was first implemented.

Personal lists on MTM2.com are a great idea. any chance to have a feature to export them into .ini format? I was thinking... maybe implement a new feature on KPodman so users can download tracks instantly based on public user lists or favorite lists from MTM2.com. Maybe we can work in a file format/JSON structure to automatically download tracks and trucks from the web to desktop apps.

I noticed you kept everything in php. please run a sitewide code security scan whenever you can, it is always a good idea to double-check AI generated code when you are working with old tech like php, even better if you use different models from different vendors (e.g. claude vs codex)

I had no cookie issues on Chrome 145.

Some observations:

-JS utilities pages are empty even if I login.

-on the utilities page, i would move slice60 and podzip to the legacy tools section, and i would place fixmore4 more prominently in the game fixes section. Binedit and Traxx pages needs an update. And the custom driver-check screens probably should go in the legacy sections, since they wouldn't work on the modern community patches.

-do we really need a "video replays" link on the main navbar? i rather have a direct link to utilities or the patches to be honest.

-this is just a personal preference but I would tell your AI agent not to use em dashes (—) next time. they make text look silly and too "AI made". I keep this rule as a user skill on claude.

-I feel like we should have the same black and blue theme for all pages. i know some people dig the nostalgic cownap theme on the front page but I like dark sites. all white pages feel like staring at a bulb after a while.

keep up the good work.

You now the dashes are the original MTMG layout since the site was created. Didn't want to change Phin's legacy.
Side note: I expected issues to take place which is why I am gonna spend the weekend going through every page manually to fix. I wanted to get the track/truck pages and the new databases up and running before the Comm Patch comes out.

That's a great idea Fila.
Also thank you for all your hard work so far, glad to see you are using some of my ideas. :)

Yeah I like "BUILDS" more than "GAMES" especially the way you're laying out the addons, that's great, it's more precise and compact--straight to the point for them. :D
I mean far as I'm concern, we know we have MTM1 OG, MTM2 OG, MTM2 Community Patch 0.43+, and now MTM2 Community Patch 3+ (that being the most recent coming up soon) so I say that's better than some of the stuff I thought about so far which is fine. :P

The "Keep me logged in on this computer" tick box doesn't seem to be working at the moment on my end right now, still having to log in every new session.

And I'm a Google Chrome user.

I'm an Opera user.
Anytime I am logged onto the Forums or MTMG itself (just to use the J-Viewer stuff) I don't stay logged in after enough time passes by while I am still using the browser.

Uploaded the GMC 1500 Trophy Truck Evo 2 conversion. Jviewer doesn't seem to support only png artwork yet.

i was just about to work on JSPod then JSTruckviewer. It seems there will be no further spec modifications to the BIN file format so i'll go ahead and see how it goes. I'll use your truck as testbed :)

I will push the new versions soon so Fila can use them on mtm2.com. I also generated format specification documents for the new PODv1-64 (as my AI agent likes to call it), 2.1 TRK and HD BIN extensions.
