My wishlist! Part 2: General track stuff

- Label feature in Traxx 1.6+ builds for track textures? (mainly suggesting for Kmaster if he sees this)

NOTE: OK this is more of a suggestion for Kmaster here only here. What if we can have a LABEL feature for track textures in his Traxx 1.6+ builds?
What does that mean? We can still keep the raw/act file names of our textures the same in the file system even when loaded, but in the program itself a labels feature can help us find specific textures much faster!
For example, there's many grass textures, so the label I give to one grass texture is named "Grass #1" or something like that--can be named long and with space cause it's not a external thing by file, it's internal by program.
I know we got Patterns which is cool, but I think labels would also help us find the ones we want faster because how on earth will we know most file texture names by heart and in our memory by mind? Lol.
Not worried here, so I don't think that'd be too hard. You can do that any time you like Kmaster.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- All kinds of new weather conditions? (ex; Sandstrom) And maybe day to night stuff separate from weather? (either combinations in the list or they day to night stuff is separate)

NOTE: I like how Ford-chan mentioned Sandstorm. I'm planning to add in my fan-game sometime along some new ones. Not worried here, so I don't think that'd be too hard, all you gotta do is duplicate the Fog entry in weather, rename it to Sandstorm, change it's color, boom you have it.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Freeroam mode?

NOTE: I like how someone mentioned that. The idea of having no AI trucks race against you and no Army nags at you for missing the checkpoint sounds great. XD Not worried, I don't think that'd be too hard.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- ... Offline for rumbles?

NOTE: Very good for having it in your list Fila, I wondered if modding can fix that for years. AI would have to learn how to know where to go at, how to attack those who gets on the area, and when others are not on it that they stay still... for this I am not sure if I should be worried or not if it's possible.
In fact I think you should look into the Monster Truck Madness 64 game to look at the N64 game's AI code for how the computer opponents rumble! That may give you a great start in potentially making this work. :)

CONCERN LEVEL: ???

- "Accurate Shape" object property? (or whatever we wanna call it)

NOTE: Is it possible to have an object type into both the game and also the new Traxx 1.6 builds that make any shape of objects accurate as an option? I am not sure about this one... Somewhat worried, idk how hard that would be but hey, it won't hurt to see if that's doable.

CONCERN LEVEL: Somewhat worried

- "Shatter" object property?

NOTE: We have animated objects where we take our .BIN model files of the same object to make it animated and such things... but what if we had shatter object type into both the game and also the new Traxx 1.6+ builds so we can have pieces of the object a certain way? When you have it loaded, the various .BIN model files together makes it look like a whole object, so when any player/AI truck hits the object it's gonna shatter. Somewhat worried, idk how hard that would work when making any breakable object appear whole in the game before getting destroyed, but hey, it won't hurt to see if that's doable.

CONCERN LEVEL: Somewhat worried

- Larger map grids to go beyond 256 x 256 sized tracks?

NOTE: That would be interesting to see in Traxx 1.6+ builds and MTM2 in future beta/community patches. Somewhat worried, idk how hard that would be but hey, it won't hurt to see if that's doable.

CONCERN LEVEL: Somewhat worried

- Longer drag racing time beyond 30 seconds?

NOTE: OK this is just a MAYBE. Alright? I am sure the point of drag racing is to win the race in under 1 minute. But the reason I suggest this is because I noticed if I make any drag where the trucks race any longer than 30 seconds that they automatically get DQ'd for taking too long. LOL. Not worried cause I am sure that can be fixed, but this suggestion for me personally is way down in my list actually. Isn't drags suppose to be short normally? That's why it's on the very bottom of my list lol, gotta think logically here.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Fix the MTM1 drag code for other types of drag racing in MTM2!

NOTE: I agree with Ford-chan, being confined to purely just Straight and J Drags isn't always going to be fun in the long term, so we need to do other types of race formats with drag racing. Somewhat worried cause IDK how hard that would be.

CONCERN LEVEL: Somewhat worried

- Introduce Lane Checkpoints as a feature in MTM2 itself and in Traxx 1.6+ builds!

NOTE: I'll explain this one. If we can fix checkpoints a great bit, I think it would be great to have Lane Checkpoints be a feature only in Drag type tracks. (not sure about other type tracks) For example, in 2 truck Drag racing, we have "Lane 1" and "Lane 2" with their own checkpoints... that is so we can finally make drags that have have finish lines across the track away from each other instead of only doing the ones at one spot all the freakin' time lol. Not worried cause I am sure this can be done.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Introduce Lane Choice for AI and Players as a feature in MTM2!

NOTE: Can we... please put this one on the table? O_o OK WHY didn't TRI thought about this from the beginning from MTM1? We should've had a feature to choose lanes for our players and AI trucks in any track type! To me it would be nice if we can all pick any lane we want from ANY track types, especially if it's Drags we're talking about. My friend Tomtodd774 struggles with the issue of being in certain lanes he does not want to be in, so I think this would be a great easy feature to add. Not worried for that reason.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried.

- Any amount of trucks for the Drag session? (Even numbers AND odd numbers)

NOTE: Only 2 or more trucks that compete, even numbers and especially odd numbers if one desires that. Also if you think about it, we have stuff like bye runs--meaning 1 truck is by themselves which is a thing. As for HOW MANY that can enter offline? 18 or more maybe? But online? 8 for now, idk how more online players will help. Not worried cause I am sure that can be fixed. I'd worry about adding more online players later on if I were y'all.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Different bracket styles to choose from? (True customizable any way you like from any format too?)

NOTE: There's all kinds we seen in the past that differ from others, they would all be interesting, and for ideas we should look at PENDA Points Series to Monster Jam (past to present) to do them. Not worried cause it might be easy, but I would be somewhat worried about making it customizable which would take time, so we don't have to worry about that part right now.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- If any truck rolls over, they lose in Drag type tracks!

NOTE: That one is simple. This should be a thing for more realism, so all that has to be done is make sure the players and AI cannot continue if they roll over. Not worried, it could be easy.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Drag type tracks with penalty options!

NOTE: That one is simple. What if knocking any pole over can be decided by either 5 second penalty OR instant DQ? How 'bout if not all two wheels hit the dirt ramps as well that there would be a penalty too? That'd be nice. Not worried, it could be easy.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- .......... 3 trucks racing in Drags OR more?

NOTE: It would be humorous to include as an easter egg specifically for 3 trucks racing in a drag at the same time, like that one event that did such a thing YEARS ago. As for more than that? No idea... worried because IDK how that'll cover stuff in general to make that possible... help me, lol.

CONCERN LEVEL: Worried

- Freestyle type tracks?

NOTE: OK hear me out. I know I mentioned it before once, but I'm gonna bring it up again because I can envision how it would work!
1; We add a 1 minute (or longer) time limit, that would be easy.
2; Bonus time? Like in Monster Jam, but idk how what would trigger it. Probably a certain number the game hits in the background after doing certain stuff enough? Not sure how hard that would be, just need to hit the right amount of stuff to warrant a bonus time triggered in code, right?
3; The "shattered" object property idea I mentioned? That can also be used for Freestyle type tracks to destroy breakable stuff! Just doing the "shattered" object property might be hard maybe.
4; What if all the trucks we selected for the current Freestyle type track session to play through would all be played by the same player offline? Easy As for multiplayer during online, absolutely everyone gets their own truck. That means only 1 truck at the time until the player went through the list OR when everyone did their turns. Also easy!
5; Scoring system, highest score determines the winner of the truck! Easy I think.
6; For the style of the scoring it can range from 0 to 10 from 3 judges (classic early Monster Jam) ... but I am open to see ANY kind of scoring style, even if it's today's Monster Jam with the #.### thing. Medium-ish or hard I guess.
That's my vision...
You, the player, should play as every truck yourself and see which one did better, THAT is how I believe this can work.
Not worried there for this. But if we wanted to do AI for this, then we would have to be worried.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried (If doing the "Player only" route)

From Part 2... what do I wish for you to do the most from this in future beta/community patches, Fila?
Lane Choice feature please, this would be a super handy feature, I am mainly doing it for my buddy Tomtodd774 for his fan-made broadcast MTM2 video series which would also be perfect for my own fan-made broadcast MTM2 video series as well.

My big asks are, in no particular order:

Fixed cockpits
Full implementation of the drag race mode
Modern controller support with rumble
Removal of the track-specific color palettes
Separation of time-of-day from the weather, so that we could do snow at night like in MTM64, for example

My wishlist! Part 3: General truck stuff

- More lights?

NOTE: Uh, how many lights can any vehicle have more than others usually? I don't know to be honest. Not worried here.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Have a toggle option for MTM2 to turn ON/OFF the "YEE-HAW!" for the trucks! (effects players AND ai opponents)

NOTE: OMG YES, we need this. Can we please consider this one? When doing fan-made broadcast video series using MTM2, the "YEE-HAW!" is unrealistic, you can't ever the drivers at all inside them anywhere. T_T Lol. Not worried, this would be too easy to do lol.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Make trucks do donuts better, maybe cyclones too, wheelies, and backflips plus front flips? (players only)

NOTE: ... I don't know, can that be done? Some may be more easier than others. I think making donuts better should be easy--not worried, maybe the same for cyclones--not worried. Now with wheelies... maybe in the coding, when doing the wheelie button, 1; it's a variant of the gas button only if on ground, and 2; it makes the shocks just long enough that they can do wheels right away, when done holding it or when in the air the shocks are normal height again--so not worried about this one. Backflips and frontflips, I'd be somewhat worried because IDK what you can do to make them work how we want them to be.

CONCERN LEVEL: Mixture

- Have a toggle option for MTM2 to turn ON/OFF the horn for the trucks! (effects players AND ai opponents)

NOTE: OMG YES, we need this. Can we please consider this one? I know drivers have vehicles IRL with horns that lets them honk at others, steel monster trucks probably could if originally normal trucks converted to monster trucks with big tires IRL, BUT steel tube chassis monster trucks (fiberglass bodies) never does that at all most of the time because they normally don't have that feature... Not worried, this would be too easy to do lol.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Maybe audio addon content for honk/yee-haw and monster truck noises in general? (as .POD files, maybe a feature that lets us switch different presets we made)

NOTE: Well... it would be cool to hear different horns besides what we got in-game, the yee-haw can be anything we want that'd be funny, and different monster truck noises would be interesting. Not worried, I think it can be done.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- .......... Increase number of trucks that can race during gameplay?? (only Circuit/Rally and idk about online either)

NOTE: ... [says that with dread, internal screaming lol]
I am so not sure about this one. =/
I mean it would be so cool to see more than 8 trucks in a race but let's be honest, we should address the elephant in the room about the CONS if we tried to do even that.
1; First of all, the more detailed the truck's models are, the more strain it puts on on the game engine with or without DX9/11.
2; We don't even know how many OG/fan-made TRI styled trucks can be in a race before it decides to lag and cause problems...
3; We don't know just how many HD styled trucks can be in a race before it causes problems.
4; And we definitely have no idea how many higher detailed custom trucks can be in a race before it gets problematic.
If I had to give it a new limit at the moment?...
From 8 trucks (OG without patches - Community Patch 2 + recent Beta Patches) TO 10 trucks should be fine as a start.
I mean I am curious about it too myself but I am not too serious about the suggestion because I understand that it might be hard in different ways.
For those reasons I'm worried, so this is the most concerning one but not impossible at all because--it would be nice to see where this leads us with our current high specs we got. I mean if Fila wants to give it a try some day and either rule it out or see how far we can go, then go ahead, at least let's humor our selves about that one lol.

CONCERN LEVEL: Worried (BIG ONE)

- AI trucks doing realistic common sense stuff drivers IRL do in situations!

NOTE: Stuff like this.
1; Make the AI come to a dead stop once crossing the finish line in a Drag race... it would be a lot better than just seeing them drive off elsewhere and run into the wall of an arena.
2; Make the AI back up in reverse if they get stuck at a wall or object to continue driving instead of just calling the helicopter every time.
3; Make the AI try to go back to a checkpoint they ended up missing so they can continue, lol.
Not sure if I'm worried or not about this.

CONCERN LEVEL: ???

- Favorite Truck Lists!

NOTE: Ford-chan mentioned this and I love it! I say it would be easy so I'm not worried at all! I'll define his idea a bit more here.
1; 100 lists should be a fine number.
2; Add or delete lists, and maybe even share lists with players during online sessions.
3; We need to be able to name our lists.
4; Any list shows us who the main player's truck and all the computer opponent's trucks are. Also tells us if there's missing .pods which grays out that list until you add what's missing.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Customize feature on Driver Check-In screen for the trucks, all truck .POD files would now have models packaged in their .POD files for switching models/textures!

NOTE: I love what Ford-chan suggested with some kind of In-game Binedit Truck Editor style vehicle customization. For me personally, I see an opportunity of what you can do with it! Allow me to explain this version of the idea.
1; Imagine having truck .POD files that contains other Model Base Name (truck body) files, Tire Model Name files, Axle Model Name files, and anything else.
2; That means LESS different versions of any truck as standalone .POD files OR .TRK files merged in one .POD file, MORE creative way to play with your trucks in a "less is more" approach.
Why the heck not? I'm gonna say not worried because this might be a decent easy thing to do!

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Give MTM1 trucks a coded label (MTM1) next to their truck names in .TRK files in .POD files if loaded into MTM2!

NOTE: I am with Ford-chan on this one, at least they actually work! They just need their own identity of being an MTM1 truck to prevent duplication problems. Not worried at all.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Make weather elements do stuff on trucks visually!

NOTE: It would be cool to see raindrops, mud, and snow appearing on the trucks, it would be immersive for sure. Not sure if I am worried or not.

CONCERN LEVEL: ???

- For drags (and maybe freestyle) have all entry trucks not racing during rounds to stay parked while other trucks racing can move!

NOTE: I would love to see parked trucks during drags (even freestyle if that's possible) when we are doing these sessions. I mean this sounds like a tall order, sure, it would be cool to see this... but I don't know man. Wouldn't this be very hard to do though? Worried about how hard this would be. D: I mean we're just talking about stuff here, we just wanna see if anything we thought of works.

CONCERN LEVEL: Worried

From Part 3... what do I wish for you to do the most from this in future beta/community patches, Fila?
Toggle options to turn ON/OFF for the Horn and the "YEE-HAW!" so players and especially AI trucks can't sound off with them anymore if the player wants them off.

Not sure how reasonable this one is, but .smf and .tiff support with bump maps for this format, mainly for truck makers. In my experience, smf is just a much simpler model format to work with than bin. There is also already a very nice Blender plugin with smf import / export created by the evo community.

My wishlist! Part 4: General replay stuff

- Smoother replays! (just like gameplay but keeps the information of what all happened so far in the replay)

NOTE: In other words, smooth just like the actual gameplay when you are playing as you're driving! I always never liked how the replays looked in the past, so if that can be improved, then awesome. Not worried because I feel like this one is an easy fix to improve it, just guessing.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried (maybe)

- Increase the length of replays! Beyond 1 minute.

NOTE: I always hated the 1 minute limit, and when I view them that the limit eats up the replay... I am sure this can be fixed, easy tops. Not worried for that reason.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Unrestricted camera!

NOTE: If we can increase the length of replays, make the replays smooth just like the actual gameplay that happened already during any session, AND have unrestricted camera, THAT would be perfect for anyone who wants to do their own fan-made broadcast MTM2 racing shows! We can also make that even better too if we add these into the next beta/community patches. Not worried at all, easy I bet!

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Toggle option feature to turn ON/OFF the word "Instant Replay" present during replays. (including "Press ESC To Exit")

NOTE: Self explanatory, lol. Why this? Relates to people doing fan-made broadcast MTM2 racing shows, it would be great if we wanna turn it off so it's not present if some of us are doing stuff like that. So I'm not worried here, this would be a piece of cake I'm sure.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Timeline editor stuff (for fan-made broadcast MTM2 racing shows)

NOTE: So what's this idea? You'll see. The purpose of having a timeline editor is to add somewhat "realism" to the fan-made broadcast MTM2 racing shows.
1; The biggest point of the idea is KEYFRAME style editing in the timeline editor. Here's examples below with what to expect.
2; With the Camera, what if you could keyframe WHEN the camera changes to whatever view you want during any moment you like for your replays?
3; With the Camera Angles stuff, you could also keyframe WHEN the camera zooms in or out and the angle changes too. Also perfect to pair with the unrestricted camera!
4; With the Truck, you can definitely keyframe when it changes view to another truck at any time!
5; Also WITH the truck customization feature idea from Driver Check-In, I say toss it in there too! THIS is perfect to keyframe when something "happens" to any truck during the track. Yeah, make it look like the truck "broke" off the hood with a simple truck body model swap with the "same truck but missing hood" variant when you hit a wall or something. Well it can be somewhat "realistic" to some degree, lol!
and 6; If your replay got saved as a file, then it shall keep what timeline editing you done to it. (IDK how that part will work but I guess we'll figure that out)
THAT is the entire idea for a timeline editor feature in MTM2's Instant Replay.
Eh, I guess I am somewhat worried cause IDK how hard that would be to put in it.

CONCERN LEVEL: Somewhat worried

From Part 4... what do I wish for you to do the most from this in future beta/community patches, Fila?
Increase the length of the replays beyond 1 minute. It would be nice to see LONGER replays, and also saving such longer replays as files would be cool.

My wishlist! Part 5: General monster manual stuff (That's if we're able to bring it back in some way, shape, or form)

- Monster Manual gets re-worked so it's integrated directly into MTM2 (no more old busted Windows Help format)

NOTE: I would LOVE to see the MTM2 Monster Manual being useable again... if there's a way to bring it back in some way, shape, or form so it doesn't have to rely on the old busted Windows Help format so that it can be accessed again and we can do cool stuff to it, then cool, I am all for it.
Update** I saw the beta patch 0.50 thread AND one member on Discord showing me a screenshot of the new buttons on one screen, I saw Manual on it. You got it back already? :O Wow! You'll have to tell me how it went, how it works now, and everything or something, you're doing amazing Fila. :)

CONCERN LEVEL: ??? (CHECK!)

- Customizable Monster Manual themes?

NOTE: Now here's some interesting ideas for this section, starting with this one! Well if it can come back, I would LOVE to see this as a feature in the Monster Manual. It would be a SIMPLE one, more like we are just changing the main background when inside the Monster Manual or something like that, nothing too detailed there.
1; They would be .POD files just guessing.
2; We would have a list of themes to choose from if there's any addon theme .POD files mounted at the time.
Not worried, I am sure it would be easy as pie. IDK if it's gonna be by .POD files or not, but we can just talk about it.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried.

- Add truck page stuff in truck pods?

NOTE: This would be great if it can be done! Allow me to explain. Rather it's the vanilla trucks OR addon trucks, I say all MTM1 and MTM2 trucks should have their own truck page on the Monster Manual such as info, maybe even pictures and 1 short video. Their truck page would have to say "(MTM1)" or "(MTM2)" in the start of their truck names as given in their .TRK files just guessing. For all MTM1/MTM2 stock trucks, they all need their photos and videos together.
Oh and maybe 4 pictures as a limit for how many the truck's page can have, and a certain canvas size of all pictures?
Not worried, I think this would be easy??

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried.

- Add track page stuff in track pods?

NOTE: Same case like the trucks, all MTM1 and MTM2 tracks should have their own track page on the Monster Manual such as info, and just 4 pictures (same as whatever size we think would be nice) possibly in the .SIT files of these track .POD files just guessing, if also put in Traxx 1.6+ builds.
Not worried, I think this would be easy??

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried.

From Part 5... what do I wish for you to do the most from this in future beta/community patches, Fila?
Since I saw that one screenshot from a user, if Monster Manual is back... I guess Customizable Monster Manual themes for the UI should be next.

My wishlist! Part 6: General other stuff

- VR Support?

NOTE: ... That's up to y'all, lol. I mean that would be cool. I'm somewhat worried cause IDK yet on how hard that'd be. I saw a 4x4 EVO 2 VR video on Youtube recently though, so I guess we'll just wait and see.

CONCERN LEVEL: Somewhat worried

- Host player sharing their truck/track addons with players that joined during online gaming sessions?

NOTE: Oh this would be super handy! No more people trying to download stuff they don't have OR mount stuff they missed and re-join the sessions ever again. I'm somewhat worried cause IDK how that can work. I'm sure we'll think of something.

CONCERN LEVEL: Somewhat worried

- Customizable UI for other screens?

NOTE: It's like the one with Monster Manual, so same for the other UI screens. I know we can normally, but I mean an easier way make them or implement them, so maybe? Not worried much.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Restart Race feature!

NOTE: Restarting a race (any track type OFFLINE) would be awesome so you don't have to list the same trucks for computer opponent to be all over again. Not worried, it could be easy.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Race Again feature! (For the same trucks and tracks again in the next session)

NOTE: Much like the Restart Race feature where you do it in the middle of a paused session, but here? The Race Again feature is for after the session is done, you can race in the same track and trucks again! Not worried, it could be easy.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Auto Respawn feature to turn ON/OFF!

NOTE: That one is simple. Make it so we can toggle on or off the Player or AI being able to respawn after crashing when no longer on their wheels. We can still use the Helicopter if we want to, even the AI. Not worried, it could be easy.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Helicopter or Respawn toggle feature for Players and AI trucks!

NOTE: That one is simple. Make it so we can toggle Helicopter or Respawn for the Players and AI being depending what we'd like for them to do, even if we want the AI trucks to respawn quicker for a little more challenge against them sometimes. Not worried, it could be easy.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- External mirror HUD for Chase cameras!

NOTE: I love Ford-chan's idea, so I am including it too. Not worried, probably easy!

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Return of Tournament?

NOTE: That would be nice to see it back. IDK if I should be worried or not, I don't know.

CONCERN LEVEL: ???

- 2D/3D cockpit version as options!

NOTE: I just saw the recent beta patch 0.50 thread, and according to what you said, you got it back working again! Nice! :)
So 2D cockpit is back.
I guess that leaves us with MAYBE a 3D version? I am not really sure how it can work to be honest... worried or not, I don't know, because I am not sure how you can make a 3D version work.

CONCERN LEVEL: ???

From Part 6... what do I wish for you to do the most from this in future beta/community patches, Fila?
Definitely the Auto Respawn feature to turn ON/OFF for trucks during gameplay. I would love to see that come up sometime.

Re: Community Patch Wishlist

Post by Legend_Of_Wii »

My wishlist! Part 7: General audio stuff (FINAL PART of the wishlist)

- No more of the 8 Bit Mono 11khz restriction with .WAV files! (or other formats)

NOTE: That'd be great for all audio, rather they are for music in tracks, sound effects in tracks, or even the truck calls themselves! It's a wish more than anything, concern is unknown for me.

CONCERN LEVEL: ???

- More music choices!

NOTE: Here's what I mean...
1; In the Sound menu, we need a Music Player section--under it we can change stuff for the Menu and Gameplay.
2; We can choose songs from any track .POD files... both Menu and Gameplay.
3; We can choose songs (MP3 and maybe other file formats) from the computer... both Menu and Gameplay.
Not worried, it should be easy--at least most I listed there.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Use ALL unused Army Armstrong voice lines missing from the full retail version of the game!

NOTE: Yeah stuff like "If you wanna ride that train, you'd better buy a ticket!" when crashing into a train, "One more lap to go!" when at the final lap, "Look out below!" if in the air, even stuff during the start of the race like "Prepare yourself, this ain't no funhouse!", just those things. Not worried.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- AI Army Armstrong voice models for truck calls! (TTS and RVC versions)

NOTE: OK this is special here... I have BOTH TTS/RVC Army Armstrong AI voice models and we need to discuss it for placing this on the MTMG site if anyone's interested.
Stuff like...
1; How to make sure people that wants to do it locally on their computer may access the models and tools to do it, only if their PC has good enough specs for them first.
2; How to make sure people that wants to do it online (ex; Google Colab) in case they can't do it locally with weak specs on their PC.
It is PERFECT to make truck calls for any truck or just mess around for fun. Not worried here too much as long people with strong PCs can do it locally and those with weaker PCs can do it online.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

- Army Armstrong toggle option for Classic/Modern?
NOTE: Classic for recorded lines Army OR Modern for AI Chatbot (text generation, tts voice model) for a more realistic immersion?
OK, this is a big brain moment I had a while back that I wanna talk about!
But please don't get too exited or stressed at this idea everyone, we are just simply talking about stuff, ok? I already know what the cons are, and they're great...
There is some cool PROs and terrible CONs I need to address.
...
Pros...
1; More immersive! (same context for every trigger - ex; in the air, rolling over, missing a checkpoint, etc etc ... but different comments every time reading and hearing him!)
2; Perfect for fan-made broadcast MTM2 videos!
...
Cons... (these are big...)
1; Could be very difficult to get it working and maintained rather it's by locally for those with weaker specs (CPU/GPU) on their PCs or by online if money is involved.
2; If Army Armstrong didn't want us to use his cloned voice.
3; AI is still in it's somewhat infant stage.
4; LLM needs to get better in generation and even in performance if it can be less consuming.
Idk if I am missing any other cons, but let me know.
Worried for all those reasons, and I also say it's impossible, LOL... for now.
Bottom line... NOT TIME YET? Yes. Impossible? Maybe. This is way down in my wishlist as literally the last thing.

CONCERN LEVEL: Worried

- Driver calls?

NOTE: Now THIS right here is an interesting idea. :D
OK, if you ask me which is better...
A) recorded Army
or B) AI Chatbot Army
Recorded Army BEATS AI Chatbot Army any time during this moment in time.
Allow me to explain this idea.
1; Any driver name we make will automatically default to the "Driver" .WAV (or other format?) file and he's just shouting "Driver!" in it. (I can make that one)
2; Under the driver's name is an audio slot! (only 1 audio file)
3; At this time, we CAN use the RVC voice model of Army at the time, and then we import the audio file into that driver name's audio slot.
4; We need the toggle option called "Addressing Player" between "Truck Call" and "Driver Call" which would make this cool, fun, and interesting!
So with the recorded Army route, not worried at all, it's the least of my worries. WAY EASIER than Ai Chatbot Army at this moment.

CONCERN LEVEL: Not worried

From Part 7, the last part... what do I wish for you to do the most from this in future beta/community patches, Fila?
Oh yes the Driver Calls, absolutely. :)

Re: Community Patch Wishlist

That's all 7 parts of my wishlist, that's literally everything.
OMG that was so hard to cover everything in details without the pages look like they're just walls of text in my posts. :(
I tried so hard on that part, lol.

Fila, when you come back to this thread, do take a look at my wishlist whenever you are able to. And if you wanna give me your thoughts on any of the stuff I listed, you're free to do so. :)

The Top 8 stuff for to do in the next beta patches to have in future community patches I'd like to see soon...

- Increase the character limit for file names (from Part 1)
- Lane Choice feature (from part 2)
- Toggle option to turn ON/OFF for the Horn (from part 3)
- Toggle option to turn ON/OFF for the "YEE-HAW!" (also from part 3)
- Make replays LONGER (from part 4)
- Customizable Monster Manual themes for the UI (from part 5)
- Auto Respawn feature to turn ON/OFF for trucks during gameplay (from part 6)
- Driver Calls (from part 7)

At least you are almost done with Community Patch #3, which is awesome. :)
You won't be able to include anything else at the time, but that's ok, that's why you made this wishlist thread anyway, and I did my part. XD

And LOL at Ford-chan's MTM64/Mario Kart power-ups comment! XD
"None of those powerups from MTM64, or even Mario Kart in this case. Noooo!!!" ~Ford-chan
Lol!

If you are reading this, I do agree with you on the MTM64 power-ups in MTM2, that's a huge nope.
We can agree that the powerups is not very MTM-like to begin with, although it's fun/funny to some people including myself when playing MTM64.
For me personally on why I say no to powerups is because it might be much harder inserting powerups into MTM2, especially if you do the shrink ray and crush the trucks. (very funny in MTM64 to me, lol)

Anyway, I am done with my wishlist.
Let's discuss stuff and enjoy our days together. :)

Re: Community Patch Wishlist

Post by Shockwave_S08 »

Got a small wishlist for future community patches and betas:
  • Widescreen 2D cockpits and rear-view mirror: Even though the 2D cockpits work now, they remain limited to a 4:3 aspect ratio at this time, likewise with the interior rear-view mirror. Implementing truly-widescreen cockpits would require someone extremely-skilled with sprite-editing, as it would require extending the existing sprites far beyond their original constraints, not unlike how UZDoom has widescreen assets for Doom, Heretic, Hexen, and so many more games.
  • Full integration of Monster Manual within the new menu structure: While the Monster Manual is accessible again, it could use some sprucing up. Given how some modern games hardwire the user manual within the main menu, is there a possibility of reworking the Monster Manual itself to not require opening an external window to read, fully-navigable from start to end with a controller?
  • MTM1-style overview pages for vanilla MTM1 and MTM2 tracks: An old MTM1 feature that never made it to the sequel was the track overview pages, which showed the general track outline and a brief description. With the full menu overhaul in place, is it possible to pull the required data directly from GAME.POD if it's part of the load-order?

Yeah I meant to do the overview but ended up having a hard time getting the mirrors to work correctly on all 3 renderers and forgot about it.

The 2D cockpit is beyond me at this point, it needs either someone that knows how to do art or use a graphics AI and I'm not paying for another AI 😆

The manual is also a bit iffy. That's going to require quite a significant work, more doable on my end than the 2D cockpit at least.

I'm going to spend the weekend going through this thread and make a full clean list in the opening post.

Alright awesome, thanks man, I'm glad you took my suggestion to update your opening post with all of the stuff we're wanting sometime soon, cause that'll help you find everything in one spot if tidy and organized. ^^ (including names of people who wants them is optional btw.)

I look forward to reading any of your input on my wishlist and the other people with their wishlists as well. :D
And I uh, apologize if my posts were walls of text btw, I tried to make them making them short I swear, lol... T_T

One more thing, in the future I wanna join in the play resting when you do more patches in the future, Fila. I'll be ready then. ;)

the manual is easy. well not easy, but totally doable. with patience  i have a HLP decompiler laying around somewhere, but we would need to manually link each page (i think they get decompiled in a weird format, chm?)

i think our best shot is to convert the manual to HTML.

Fila, simple items that could be implemented.

Instead of using raw/act files since the extension is wrote in the bin model texture blocks, simply changing to png for better texture management, I would recommend stb_image library, very easy to use. If not that, at least bumping up the texture size to 512 or higher. I can convert models really easy with the Blender plugin just being limited with the textures. Thanks.

I hope this make sense in this thread.

Here's a crazy idea I had (probably not the first to have it...):

If model bins with collision had hitboxes defined by their shape, rather than a box box enclosing them (as I remember), we could import terrain and all sorts of crazy stuff to drive on!

Definitely after Comm. Patch 3 type of stuff here. Lots would need to be done to Traxx I think to make object placement, etc... easier to work with in this situation.

This would work hell of a lot for Drags and Freestyle for jump obstacles as models that don't require collision boxes!

Just look at today's Monster Jam dirt mounds that would seem tricky to work with for collision boxes on MTM2.

Got a suggestion for handling multiple load-orders: have a drop-down menu where you can select your desired pod.ini from a dedicated folder, then using a button to overwrite the current one and automatically restart the game.
