Modern MTM Installer. WIP

Post by Jpez1432 »

I've created a simple no nonsense installer using NullSofts install system, it is really simple and will run on modern versions of window, its simply the base game with the latest renderers and ui updates. Version .50 vulkan, d3d9/11 without the window hassle. If anyone is interested maybe we can add/modify it further. Let me know.

You should add the monster.ini too from the system folder. When I get home I'll make a base monster.ini.

Oh nvm upon re-reading I realize it's the whole game :)

I know this has been a concern of many people or so it seems in the posts. I don't mind keep it up but if you want I can show you the nsi script and if you get NSIS its just a simple program from Nullsoft, people who wrote winamp back in the day. It is a script that basically creates full fledge installer from whatever. I know once I ran the game it had the setup but we should probably have it redone. Right now its got my settings, I couldn't figure out how to get it to reset so it show the startup again.

great call man. I was exploring a similar idea on the discord server a few weeks ago, but instead of a complete installer with the full game, I was thinking about an installation helper that lets you choose the MTM2 source (cd rom, an ISO or an URL ), updates the registry for you and then automatically downloads and installs the official patch + latest community patch (or do we need the official patch at all if we want to just install the community patch?). Maybe having some options in between, like letting you choose immediately the renderer and resolution or letting you install smacker videos or not. Hell, even download utilities right away. Just a "startup pack" to get everything going quickly if you need a fresh install

No need for official if using the community patch, it already incorporates the official patch.
