Stock Blanks by Pratt & Lambert

Could someone please explain to me how to use these properly?

I can't get the changes I do to them to show up in the game.

Did you follow the steps here ?

http://cownap.com/~mtmg/repaint/

You have to rename the *.bin, *.act, and *.raw files using a unique name. And you have to replace the *.raw files in the *.bin too.

Those blanks are just paint files theres no actual truck in the pack, no bins to rename.

The answer is the same. Paint them the way you want, save using a unique name, replace the *.raw file names in a stock truck model (which you saved using a unique *.bin file name) and make your truck.

If you're having trouble, can you be more specific about what you are doing?

I'll give that a try, but now I have another problem. I've opened up the bmp files in one of the MTM1 trucks converted for MTM2 and the decals are black and grey and I can hardly see anything, any idea what's wrong? :?

What I'm trying to do is copy the decals from one of the stock trucks from mtm1 converted to mtm2 onto Bigfoot.

Before you copy the decals increase the color to 24-bit on both graphics, then when you paste it should be okay. Please note you will have to reduce the color to 8-bit again when you're finsihed painting the graphic before running it in the game.

Tried it, the MTM1 decal is still almost pitch black.

In the game or on the texture? If it's in the game, it could be a problem with the track palette. If it's on the texture, then it should be okay. I mean, how could it not be okay on a full color graphic.

Um, what color depth is your monitor?

I converted the trucks raw file to bmp then opened it up in Paint Shop Pro 8, and the pictures of the trucks parts or just black and dark grey.

My monitors colour quality is highest 32 bit.

What truck, what file? I'm afraid you're going to have to get specific from here on out or we have no idea what you're talking about.

MTM1 Patriot, the file is chx3sdel. That file is the side of the truck.

You mean like the stars and banner on the side?

How are you converting it to bmp?

That's probably where you've gone astray. If I remember correctly, MTM1 only has one palette file (metalcr.act) for the whole game, whereas in MTM2 you can have an individual palette for each texture (truck1.raw can have truck1.act). If you're using an MTM2 conversion process to make your BMPs, the convertor most likely isn't finding a chx3sdel.act to go with the chx3sdel.raw, so when it converts it just writes the image in greyscale.

This page should give you some options for loading the colour palette (try MDMRE's Palette Converter): http://cownap.com/~mtmg/trucks/palette.html
