Help!!! Merged Tracks Dont Work

Post by jcikal »

HELP!!! I merged 2 tracks I did into a single POD using the Podmate program and now for some reason, they don't work!!! Does anyone out there know if it's possible to Un-merge these 2 pods to their respective single pods??? I spent over 2 1/2 months on these 2 tracks and the thought of losing them so stupidly (no, I didn't backed them up...bummer) would kill me.

Any information will be deeply appreciated (Believe me!)

I had 2 different tracks podded and I used the pod program to merge them into 1 file. The problem is that now I can't use the merged pod file, and I did not save the original 2 pods and deleted them from the hard drive. I wanted to know if there is any way to un-merge the 2pods into their respective single pods, as otherwise, I lost all of my work.

Well the link I gave above will explain how to un-merge them, but I'm curios as to what happens when you try to run the merged pod.

...I'm guessing that you can't just create two new pods from the .txx files in the traxx folder?

>>just create two new pods from the .txx files

That's what I'd do.

Hmm, I can see no reason why two working tracks would be corrupted to the point of unusability by merging them (unless they had the same basenames, and even so - one should work). There may be something else going on we don't know about.

If I were in your shoes and I didn't have the TXX files I'd extract the merged pod with a pod tool (not Traxx) then "clone" the two .SIT files with Traxx to recreate the individual tracks.

Notes:
Podmate does handle long filenames (I just checked) so that's not a problem.
That un-merging gibberish in the link really needs an update, hehe. (Winpod's pod creation/extraction days are fading)

I had the same problem with the utility a long time ago... and i deleted and never used ever since.

That was around 2 years ago... i wanted to merge 50 tracks so it won't take too much mounting space.
