playing SMK movies (on the mtm2 cd)

Post by Wint »

I wanted to play the SMK movies on my MTM2 cd so I went looking for a player. I found THE player, but I must admit, the movies on the mtm2 cd aren't worth looking at :)

But anyway... SMK files are in the compressed "Smacker" format, which is said to be used in over 2,000 games. The tools to both view and make Smacker files are free.

Go here: http://www.smacker.com/smkdown.htm

Get this:
The RAD Video Tools [1.2 MB]

Seems like a great utility for making self-presenting videos and slide shows, I found it fairly easy to use and the compression can be set to any level you desire. Feed it a LST file and it will compile it into an SMK movie, then make the SMK an EXE and it'll be self running.

I'd forgotten how funny/silly some of those videos are.

Two can be had from the microsoft site.

How large can attachments be for your email? The opening.smk is just over 15 mbs.

I wish I knew where my copy of flight sim 98 went to. I have several dozen downloaded planes and scenerios that I cannot use anymore, and they don't work with the later versions of the sim.

I never thought much of the mtm2 intro flicks. Slightly off topic, but I think the intro movie for Gran Turismo-1 (sony playstation) was the most impressive I ever saw...very well done.
