I bought a new car...
Yeah BD, after I posted that, I went surfing for pics, and then I thought of the correct name. I meant Grand Sport Corvette.
Ain't they purdy?
Chevy made them, just to bring out the "Whoopin' Stick" against the Cobras, does my GM heart proud.

The Buick is dead.
I was racing today, and I blew a tire, and put it in the guardrail at over 110+ mph.
I may have pics of it sometime, I have pics of it now, but I need to scan them in.
I'm seriously thinking about giving up the party, I almost didn't make it thru this one. 3 words, "Jaws of Life" got me out of it. I have another car sitting by the shop waiting to be put into action, but I dunno if it's worth it. This car was my baby, and I spent a pretty penny on it, but it didn't survive.
I'm typing this with dried blood in my hair yet, and glass in my skin still, I'm gonna go take a handfull of Advil and a shower, and relax for the rest of the night. I about didn't make it today, so I'm gonna have a beer and rethink my options.

110mph! Man, that's what, upwards of 180 km/h... yikes.
My own car (well the one that I drive) dates back to 1971, it's built like a tank, so I'd like to think I'd be okay in any kind of shunt (but it's only used for daily driving so I never go fast anyway)... I'd say your Buick woulda been the same, but dang, 180 km/h... ouch.

Glad you made it ok. That's what count.
But what is there to rethink? You are who you are and you cant be happy being someone else. Got close myself a few times in my sport. Never even think about it. No way i could be happy without it.

Yeah Jumper, I still have the desire to race, it's in my blood. But right now I don't need any extra financial burden. I gave $12,000 for that car. I have amost $4,000 worth of engine under the hood, and a few thousand worth of speed parts in it, suspension mods, gears, wheels & tires, etc.
The old girl would run in the 11's, so I was moving along pretty good. My right front tire blew out, I lost control, went across my lane and into the other guys lane, I was on the left. It was right at the finish line. I won, but in the end, I lost.
I ache all over still. I'm a really tough guy, I can handle it. They had to get the "Jaws" out there to peel the door off, cuz the frame was bent so badly that the door was stuck shut, so after sitting in the heap, the track crew tried getting the door open with all kinds of assorted pry-bars, they finally had to use the big claw on it to get it open, which in turn... destroyed the body, and some of the roof. Today I have to go see some doctor about my head, it's pretty banged up.
I'm having some troubles walking, and I'm pretty stiff yet. But, this is what can happen even if you are in a controlled environment. The kids that street race *beep* me off, this very same thing could happen to those idiots, only there are other cars, and other lives to hit, not guardrails.
I was lucky this time, very. My car has a rollcage in it, and I was wearing a helmet, but the impact was so hard, that all that safety stuff caused more trouble, than did good. I'm really mad at myself over anything else. I should have been able to keep it off the wall, but it happened so fast, there was no time to react. Oh well, I guess.
Time to take some more pain killers, thanks for all the kind words.

Sad to hear of the loss of the old girl, but as long as you are relatively OK, then all is well......
As a big-time airplane fan, I've heard one phrase heard many times about crashes....
"Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing".
...Looks like you made a good landing.....get well soon...
....And thank god for rollcages.....

hehe Man! Sound like a real bad day. Indeed when things are happening fast they get out of control fast too.
I happen to hit the ground at near 60 mph once. No protection other than my tough bones. lol I was coming in for landing at the end of a hook turn (intentional maneuver to increase forward speeeed) but when i droped the diving loops my right steering toggle sliped of my hand to so i could not flare my canopy at all (very hi performance canopy). I've hit the ground in an angle of about 45 degrees at full speed lol
Others were just amazed when i managed to get back on my feets.
I had sand, dust and grass all over me including in my ears and mouth.
That happen about 5 years ago and i still recall the ground rush feeling as i was about to hit the ground. hehehe not pretty.
Anyway, Like you i came out of it ok, shaken of course but ok. 2 days later i was back up there.
I just hope your story will end as good as mine.
