======== MTMC4FUN.com TRACK AND TRUCK EXPO 2003 ==========

==== Orange County International Raceway by Malibu350 ====

Well, tracks don't come any easier to race on than this one and because of that I don't expect this to be a very popular track but it was fun to build because it holds a very special place in my heart and not just because it was the greatest track ever built :o)... hehe, Well, if anything, this'll make a good coin toss track because anyone can win against anybody on it, in fact I guarantee that even the bots will give you a good run every time :o)

The track consists of 108 different models, all of which I made from scratch one vertice at a time with BE2, except for the cow and the truck which were made by TRI and the chevy engine that was made by ZOtm_BigDOGGe, there's also 250 ground textures and another 29 model textures that I custom made specifically for this track. everything will appear in complex mode.

The track supports up to six racers across at the starting line.. the start and finish points are precisely set so there is no 'good lane bad lane' here and it's a true 1320 feet from start to finish (mtm2 scale). if you go up against all bot's they will all want to merge to the center which was unavoidable but somewhat entertaining seeing who can make it out alive and cross the finish line first.

OCIR opened as the first drag racing 'supertrack' on the planet - August 5th 1967.. at an unheard of cost (at the time) of over a million dollars to construct. my dad worked there from 1969 to 1974 and would bring my brother and I with him to help out which entailed watching all the races for free lol, for 5 years that place was my disneyland and by far the best job i've ever had or will have. OCIR was forced to close it's doors on October 30, 1983 due to sky rocketing land values here (the Irvine company which owns the land it sat on, tore it down to put up office buildings) :o( a sad day that still resonates almost twenty years later for many.. OCIR was more than just a drag strip as it also had courses for Super Bike, Motocross and Sport Rally car racing, but so far I have not been able to come up with enough info to add those courses, if I ever do I'll update this to include them...

moooooo!

there's a elevater to take you to the top of the tower

a little off track fun to find, just follow the road

a large number of the fence models were 'placed' with BinEdit because traxx would not maintain the settings I edited in with tracked3 or 4.

Someone asked me (repeatedly) to build a drag track, well this is it. I know it's not 'exactly' what he wanted, but hey I couldn't do it any other way, I have to leave that for those who know how to do that sort of MT drag right.

a funny story here was when my older brother who was about 15 at the time and without a drivers license yet decided to take me for a ride in one of the tracks three wheeled cushman electric golf carts they had for vip's to get around in, well it was fun until he wanted to stop the thing and found there were no brakes since where he jacked it from was the repair shop lol, we ended up careening through the open gate behind the tower then slammed smack dab into the backside of it, right under the big globe destroying the front end, luckily those things only go about 10 mph.

this project began on 04/20/69, and was completed 08/04/03

BinEdit 2.0 will be released to the public on 8/22/03
