==== Skull Islands, an MTM2 rally by by Malibu350 ====

As with every track I've done in the past when I first get started by getting all the textures laid out, the terrain altitudes roughed in, then take it for a spin... I hate it, and this one certainly was no exception, but normaly once I spend a few days fine tuning the roadways, add a few models, etc., then it begins to show signs of hope of becoming a descent track, but this one didn't, not with mtm's physics, I almost trashed it in favor of another but thought the textures were too good to not give it another chance, a good college try if you will lol... so I started over from scratch and ended up combining baja beach and parts of the skull island mission tracks... so although this is technically a conversion, it's layout is completely new.

good lap times are around 3:30, my best was 3:17.14, 1500 gears, med tires, soft susp, pro,...
the AI trucks do crappy but I did what I could, (setting the AI's is like teaching a kitten to do the backstroke, but not as much fun and a lot more painful) ...they'll run consistent 4:00's and will run 3:40's on lucky laps.

The track should run smooth on all systems with graphics set to sparse, set graphics to normal to view the track in its entirety. For best frame rates, shut down all unnecessary programs, and when running with two or more opponents I recommend running stock trucks or repainted low vert stock trucks.

========================================================

Most of the models are from TRI's (http://www.terminalreality.com/) 4x4 Evolution 2, and were converted to bin format, retextured, remapped, resized, reanimated, and a few repaired/rebuilt by me. the ground textures are also from 4x4evo2, ground textures were trimmed from a total of 628 to 426, every model was trimmed of extra verts, unneeded faces and/or remapped in my effort to keep the file size to a minimum and frame rates at a maximum.

=======================================================

As with all my tracks they are made for fun and everything in them is for anyone to use, I have all my previous models, textures, and tracks available at my site, and this tracks components will follow shortly after its release.... @ http://malibu350.com

I had fun putting in the pyramid, take a drive on it... you can drive to the very top without gold mode or the heli, can you do it? southerners won't have a problem :)

stuff to find for the really really really bored, just the usual mooo

this project began on 8/7/02, and was completed 9/12/02
