PODMate is a program by Oliver Pieper for merging two or more .POD files into a single .POD file.
PODMate will first read the .POD files that are being merged, then copy all their files into a new .POD. In this way you can have multiple tracks or trucks in a single .POD file, allowing you to mount even more tracks or trucks!
Start the PODMate program. You will be confronted by the interface shown below:
Click the Add to list... button to add a .POD file to the list, and the Remove from list button to remove the selected .POD from the list. In the edit box below you can enter the name of the .POD you want created from the .PODs that are in the list and can even choose the destination directory by clicking the ... button and browsing through to the desired directory. When you have selected all the files you want to merge hit the Merge button, and the .POD files in the list will be merged together into a single .POD file with the name specified in the edit box.
When two or more .POD files are merged that share the same files, only one set of those files are included in the merged .POD. PODMate is smart enough to not duplicate files. This means that merging .PODs can not only cut down on the number of .POD files in your MTM2 directory, but merged files will also take up less space than the sum of the files they were created from! This is useful in a second way, as merged .PODs can easily be updated with a new version of one or more of the trucks or tracks within them! This is done by putting the new version tr?ck .POD in the list as FIRST source, then the merged .POD that you want updated as SECOND source.
It should be mentioned that on very rare occasions the program can corrupt .POD files and make them unstable or unusable. Until you are certain that PODMate always does what you want/expect, make a backup of all the files you use.
