So, that was the story of how I built my custom truck model. On the whole, I'm very proud of it - it goes without saying that I poured a lot of work into it, so it's very rewarding to see it turn out right in the end. Although I have some small reservations about how well it 'fits' into the MTM2 game, it looks so good, and (unusually for a truck by me) has such sharp handling, that it's a real delight to drive.
On the downside, I never envisaged getting caught up in this project for such a long period of time - early into it I was making good progress and thought I'd have it done by the end of 2001, even with all the real-life distractions I faced. Alas, it was not to be; with outside interferences taking precedence, I was forced to shelve it and never really recovered the impetus for it in all the time since. Though I determinedly stuck by my guns until I finally did manage to get the thing completed, I'm not sure I'd make the same decisions again now. I feel like my truck building has been set back two years; time which I sometimes feel may, in some interpretations, have been better spent on more 'fittingly MTM2'-type things (like my backlog of replicas of Australian monster trucks). But then, looking at what I have done, I guess it's nowt all bad :)
And now I really must finish this up, as I'm starting to have three-way conversations with myself. I admit that I talk to myself, but when two other voices answer back it's time to quit! Before I go, however, I'd like to post a gallery of images showing the trucks I've made to date using my Falcon ute model, which you can see below. All of these are available from my truck site for everyone to enjoy in their game.
