Found a couple of videos of note on Microsoft's marketing of MTM. First, a brief glimpse into MS's booth at E3 1996, with Bigfoot 12 acting as booth beast:

Secondly, a 1996 TV ad for MS's games as a whole that features several shots of MTM set to Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire. I only caught this one on TV once and have been chasing it ever since, glad to see it uploaded online finally:

And another piece of video I caught once and never thought I'd see again is a CNN segment about games that has a brief clip of MTM. This might have been the first time I was aware of the game's existence...

Will continue to dig as I have time since I bet there's a lot more out there. Love the nostalgia this stuff brings.

Re: Early MTM marketing
I remember reading many years ago about 1996 E3s and how Microsoft showcased MTM for the first time there. That E3 was held on may so it was still a work in progress. Great find!Cale wrote:Found a couple of videos of note on Microsoft's marketing of MTM. First, a brief glimpse into MS's booth at E3 1996, with Bigfoot 12 acting as booth beast:

Interesting choice of music. Some of these takes were also used in the mtm1 promo video. you can also tell that's a beta due to the "orangeness" of Carolina CrusherCale wrote:Secondly, a 1996 TV ad for MS's games as a whole that features several shots of MTM set to Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire. Looks like it might be, at least a still in-development version.Kmaster wrote:Is that the heavy-metal-truck blue cage at 2:55? https://www.gamespot.com/images/1300-279499 Playing with a sidewinder doesnt look like much fun
I actually had a Sidewinder 3D Pro I used with MTM2 for a long time. It worked well! If I ever get myself a retro Win95 box with a game port I might try to hunt one down again.

I found something really interesting online:

A MTM2 tournament in Las Vegas sounds fun.
Anyone recognize these two?

Did deadly tide ever actually release? I remember the demo video on the windows 95 CD but never actually found the game.

Wish MTM had big box copies still so readily available for a good price. Guess it shows how much bigger of a hit it was than this.

Re: Early MTM marketing
oh yes. If anybody is selling a big box of MTM1-2 w/ international delivery... hit me up.
Re: Early MTM marketing
I have both but can't part with them. MTM1 was my first PC game ever. I even printed out the truck spec sheets from the help files and stapled them to my wall.Kmaster wrote:oh yes. If anybody is selling a big box of MTM1-2 w/ international delivery... hit me up.
