useing tv for monitor

my son bought me a new 73 inch hd tv. so i want to know if you can hook up my old tv for a monitor. its a 64 inch philips tv. is this possible, that would be nice to race on that big of a screen.

yeah a lot of the big screens hook up just like a computer screen. take a look at the back of the tv and see if there is a hook up that looks like the one on your monitor.

all it has is alot of the female plug in (yellow, red , blue, green, white).and coax cable hook ups.

You should be able to find a cable with the right connectors on it. You know, the yellow, red , blue, green, white on one end, and the computer plug on the other.

some of big screens come with a monitor connection like a computer screen also so you might wanna check that first so you wouldn't have to do any extra spending [(-:]

what about a high definition video converter? it takes the computer plug and runs it through a box and comes out the other side with the three wire plug. you know anything about this ?

I think that 64 inch philips is on old rear projection TV, not a newer flat/high def model.

It still would be possible to hook it up to a computer but at only like 800x600 resolution so it may not be worth it.

I agree with Woody, the resolution will suck badly. I tried hooking my desktop to my new 27" LCD tv via the S-video cable and the resolution was so bad you couldn't read any text. They say it's better if you use the monitor cable, but I haven't got one yet.

I have my computer hooked up to my 32" TV, but it has a VGA connector on it. Res is 1366*768 and it is really clear.
