i keep getting this big blue screen saying...
"Windows has found an error trying to detect windows. and blah blah blah."

at the bottom it says "dumping physical memory"
ne1 know what this is and how to stop it?

system :

OS: Win XP Pro
MB: GB7a (or somthing like that)
Proc: amd duron 1.3ghz

There is a conflict between software and hardware. Have you installed anything new lately that might account for the change? Updating graphics drivers can 'sometimes' help.

Also, goto Start->control panel->admin tools->event viewer. Look for any warnings or errors that occured before or at the time of the crash. Look in both application and system logs. That may provide a clue about what's triggering the error.

Also, rumor says the agp setting could be a factor. Double check it's set to 4x. If it's applicable, try it with fastwrite on and/or off.

Possibility to suggest:

You have XP pro. Try rebooting in SAFE MODE, (press F8 at boot-up), then press the START button and go to PROGRAMS/ACCESORIES/SYSTEM TOOLS/ SYSTEM RESTORE to change your computer's settings back to a date several days before the crash.....

If you can't boot up in safe mode (basic drivers), then your OS may be corrupt, or a hardware failure.

i tryed that, but windows didnt know how to open the file. what opens a .mcs ?

couldnt do that either, i had restore option turned off.

BUT i did get it fixed without too much hassles, and didnt lose anything
with XP it has the option on the disk to install onto the current partition and all it does is deletes the windows folder and reinstalls it. nothing else is touched.

all done, cured, and hopefully getting a new HD in the new year so i can fully clean this thing out.

Double click anything in the list. Rule of thumb. When in doubt, right click. When at your wits end, double click.

You reinstalled ? Rule of thumb. When all else fails, reinstall :-)
