I spotted a bad model in
Taylor County Fairgrounds 7 (which claims to be a beta, in the in-game menu).
LTPOLE1.bin (a light pole with eight lights) -- whoever made it messed up. It's a model that could be made with a single 64x64 texture, but is instead mapped to four 256x256 textures (the two monster patrol textures, a blower texture, and some tex from yet another truck). My guess is the person just looked around for scraps of textures that they could map the model to, not knowing the consequences. In fact, the amount of texture used on the model wouldn't fill half of a single 64x64 texture.
As for 3D complexity, it has 203 vertices and 249 faces, which is too complex for the type of model it is, to be used multiple times in a track and generally seen only from a distance. It has missing faces in important areas as well as multiple doubled faces, and needless complexity in other areas as well.
I fixed it. It now has 148 vertices, 121 faces, uses one 64x64 texture, while still maintaining the look of the original. The lightbulbs themselves might be more complex than they need to be, but I decided to keep their look (so the owner won't protest too much), while reducing some of the complexity.
I don't care who made it and I don't want to know, and I have no wish to be credited for the changes, I just want the original model to be taken out and shot. If you're a track maker, use this new one in it's place if you like.
