While working with Wint on the converting of Evo2 tracks to Evo1 , I ran into a situation where I needed to "search and replace" more than 1 line of text in the .sit file . The problem was most of the rocks were set to "collide" because Evo2 uses complex collision . It would have been much easier to have them all set to "non colide" , then add collision boxes . This would mean the ones "out of harms way" could be left alone without having the "big rock" syndrome .

After trying all of the text editors I have , nothing would do more than 1 line . My son had MS Word on our other box for a course he was taking online . The course he was taking provided him with a lot of software including "Office" and even a copy of XP Pro Media edition .

It seemed that even the pricey ones (like MS Word) could only handle one line at a time . So off to Google I went . I came up with a pretty cool piece of freeware called TextMorph . It did exactly what i needed it to do . That is a download link if you want to check it out .

BTW I am typing this on another one I have called AbiWord . It too only replaces 1 line at a time , but it has a really cool spell check that will underline a misspelled word as soon as the cursor leaves it . Maybe this will help someone that ran into this same problem .

Not sure Slayer . They may well do the job but that is just the one I found that would . I'm sure there are others that would work , too .

Cool, Warrior. Thinking about it, I might have a search and replace utility somewhere in my archives that can do something similar but I've haven't needed to use it in years.

Slayer, Warrior referred to the "one line" limitation in a each of his four paragraphs. The problem is that he needed to replace two or more lines at once, or even multiple paragraphs. The line breaks caused by pressing the enter key (CR/LF) cannot be pasted into those single line boxes you refer to.

For the record: Working with Wint on the converting of Evo2 tracks to Evo1...

Just to drop a word in here, editpad can handle multiple lines but can sometimes be a pain to do and it won't really do paragraphs. Having said that, can't have too many good programs. TextMorph looks just fine. I've grown used to editpad but it looks half-way decent just the same. Similarly with AbiWord my wp12 does all I could ask, but there's a lot to be said in favor of freeware. I wonder how Open Office would handle this stuff.
