Now back to the other topic here :-)

Here's the whole point of all this. On the mtm1 track page . . .

http://mtm2.com/~tracks/tracks.cgi?select=n&order=a&year=1997

. . . I did pop up images for tracks beginning with the letters A, C, M, S, Z. They're all the check-in images except for the letter C, which are the track view maps (I was working on win98 tonight). Personally, I think I like the track view images better, but I can relate to the maker's creativity. Then again, on the other hand, there's always trackshot images right in the game.

I think what we really need is somebody to make a track view that works [properly] with mtm2 [and with win xp].

p.s. I couldn't get your error mal.

C-POD will display a line drawing of the map, but it does not do terrain rendering or textures (yet). That said, I use it all the time - my latest trick is to turn stock tracks on and off or to change their type (great for doing screen shots of rumbles).

edit. oops, mal snuck in ahead of me... I'll try agin for the error.

<IMG SRC="http://www.mtmc4fun.com/images/mtmg/trackviewerr2.jpg" border=0>

the cause?... whilst attempting to fool trackview into opening a file type other than a pod to recreate a dti in order to win the prized whoopie cushion, I ran across the rather rude little german above, lol

the fix? altering certain file types extentions to .pod will not work... so don't try lol

There's been some progress. Here's a stock mtm2 track and two in-progress betas.

Crazy 98
Wake UP (beta)
Undeniably Crazy

Here's two mtm1 stockers, and an addon.

Crazier 8
Snowy Canyon
LA Supercross

But we're not perfect yet. As great as the above pics look, camera angles and lens need some thought. But we're in the right direction.

The Summit (trackview 2)
The Summit (trackview 1)

I'll let you know more the moment I do.

Ah, I get it. There's actually a knack that you have to get.

The Summit (my first try)
The Summit (a new approach)
The Summit (back to try agin)

Much improved, I think.

Same thing for undie crazy.

Undeniably Crazy (the first one)
Undeniably Crazy (reshot)

This thing is going to be great!

Whoa! Hey this is pretty slick, it really is. As a racer I've often times thought about the benefit of being able to view a track from this perspective, but the urge was never strong enough for me to justify installing Traxx for the sole purpose of viewing a layout and nothing more. I mean, that's bordering on disrepect to the Guitar Bill, and we certainly can't have that lol.

As it is I know I could certainly make use of a tool like this when I review tracks. Being able to provide a visual when referring to specific sections of an author's layout would very helpful in terms of being able to communicate a point or concept. I understand this utility doesn't allow you to view checkpoint locations. All I can say is "Oh yeah!" Nice stuff, OP!!
