This might be old news, but I just discovered it. There is a little program called
EditPad and it's just basic but I like it. Here's what the maker says about it.
Quote:
EditPad is a general-purpose text editor, originally created to replace the Notepad applet that comes with Windows. It has all the features you want from a solid text editor, but no useless bells and whistles.
And I'll add, it opens as many documents as you want but with only one program spot on the taskbar (I hate working with seventeen open programs), it has a larger file size capacity than notepad, it has things like search and replace from wordpad, it can save and associate itself with several text based file types, it minimizes as an icon only, it allows you to merge files without needlessly open+copy+paste+closing, it has a recent file history list so you don't need to browse to the files all the time, do you care about printing and fonts? it's got that too.
Best of all, it's
free. Well, actually, it's postcardware if you can believe it.

And, it's solid as a rock.
Thought I'd share this with everyone.
