Umm was this helpfull towards the release of Project monster?

ok after reading that whole 20 pages of postings i seen that mat said he needed a physics engine for it?

A GREAT physics engine thats free but you might need to use Ogre3d To Use this tho but it would do the job for it

Wow, funny to see another post about it after all these years...

Lack of a physics engine was one of the problems we encountered, but the actual failure of the project was due to a lot of other factors as well. I seem to recall that the graphics engine was giving some trouble, the truck component setup wasn't matching up, we couldn't get people to create the game's sound and artwork, programming issues, older version of game creation software didn't support the features we needed, and there were a lot of issues with conflicting game features that people were requesting, this plus the copyright issues with some of them.

I can't hide the main reason the project failed though. The top developer and organizer was an incompetent twelve-year-old who shouldn't have been allowed on the internet in the first place. That was four years ago - I'm now older than some of the other PM people were when the project was still in business, actually. (and a lot more responsible, which is mainly why I haven't started the project again only to dash everyone's hopes and further destroy my reputation here.) To those who were negatively affected by the resulting failure, I can only say I'm very, very sorry for my mistake.

On the other side of the fence, I believe most of the programming and resources I created for the project are still resting on my hard drive. The art and screenshots I posted gave the illusion of a much more complete game than we had, but the little that did exist of Project Monster is still hanging around. I'm not promising anything, but I do still have the resources.

I have indeed had experience with the physics engine you posted. It's quite high quality, especially to judge by some of the games people have made with it. Our graphics engine was 3D GameStudio A6 which has since been updated to the new A7, which includes many new features that probably make the entire suite enough to create a game like this.

Actually, I'm glad you started this thread. I don't know the future of this game, but this could be a good discussion forum for game engines and features, in case it sparks someone's programming creativity. I may even try a test level myself (without promising it will leap tall buildings in a single bound, of course).

Well, Accually i know of a game engine, thats free(last time i heard anyway) and its VERY easy to use

theres a game called stunt playground that uses Ogre3d AND newton Dynamics that has a monster truck on it and you can already create an arena with cars and ramp set up(but its kinda of a tech demo but more advanced)
