I've just downloaded a new truck and now I can't get it to work in the game. When I mount the pod and try to start the game, I get the same box that you get when you try to use a bad truck(You know, one thats missing a model texture, ect.) please help a.s.a.p..

I've had this problem with some of the other trucks I've downloaded. I've been wondering how to fix this for a while...

First, we need a couple of things:
-Truck name
-Complete error name or screenshot
-Game version (2.00.41 or 2.00.42)

Are you using PodIt (or something else) to mount pods or are you doing it manually? If you mount it manually you have to change the number at the top (to the number of pods you have).

If he has a wrong number of mounted PODs, the game won't run, and he couldn't be able to see any error message, so that's not the problem

First off, I'm using cowpod. The truck is the Gran Tourismo Race MT by XFA Pitbul. I think My game is 2.1, like i said, I think.

Well, I never would have thought the game crashing would be a good thing! When it crashed, it un-mounted every single pod, so after I re-mounted all of the necessary pods, and a few more, I tried it again and it worked. The case is not the same for the others though :( Don't ask which ones 'cause I couldn't tell ya'. I still wanna' know how to fix this without repeating the scenario above.

Maybe you have too many PODs? The limit is about 31 I think. However if you install the MTM2 patch from Microsoft the limit is increased to near 100 maybe.

The most common cause for truck errors is a missing raw file. The truck will not show up in the preview window and if you try and launch the game you get the error message.

Chances are that one of newer pods you mounted had the missing file in it that mtm was looking for, enabling the error truck to work.

To fix the problem pod you need to recompile it making sure that all nesesary files are in it. Or just place the missing file in your mtm2 directory as a loose file, mtm2 can pull it from there.

The error message itself will often times tell you which file is missing... and a hint on finding the correct one try looking in other pods by the same truck builder.

I will check that out.

Regarding the game version, this is what kmaster is talking about.

<center><img src="http://mtm2.com/~forum/images/mtmversion20042.jpg" width="550" height="370"></center>

It should be noted that the only thing the version effects is the "number" of pods you can mount at one time. If there a pod has missing files, it will error out on either version.

I think . . .

*.41 is retail install

*.42 is patched.

The Truck Works, like I said earlier. But now I have another problem. You know the message you get when you use a bad truck( you know, one that's missing a texture, ect.) Well, what do I do when I get that message for a track? :? This happens when I try to run one of two tracks. On on, the box appears when it loads the scenery. The other one I don't know about. I'll check and report back soon.

By the way, both tracks are ones I've made, not ones I've downloaded...

Like I said before, we need a screenshot or something.

If it's tracks you've made, then you might want to fix folder optons in windows explorer.

http://cownap.com/~mtmg/folderoptionsxp.shtml

"if" that is the problem, you'll have to take all the models out, save and close traxx, then reopen traxx and put them back in. Sorry, it's the only way.

yikes, that would be a big pain, wouldnt editing the SIT file be easier? or the traxx TXX file?
Im kinda suprised that anything would read models incorrectly by forgetting the extension if you have them turned off in explorer.

You can edit the sit file but that'd be a challenge for new guys. You can delete models and leave the object box in the track and then reapply the models again afterward. Might have to tweak but it's not as bad as working from scratch.

Ok, first I can't understand half of what you're saying. Second, If you want me to post the tracks so you can try them, I will. One of them is a stadium drag and the other is an air hockey table. Third, I AM NOT A NEW GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been at this for nearly a year and a half! I just recently got up the courage to post anything. Fourth, ... Um, fourth? Ah yes! Wait, no,no,no... Well, never mind. [(-:]

new guy = somebody we haven't seen much before

No harm intended.

Yes, post "one" of them. That should let us know something. Once I/we have a look, I'll remove it from the page (so people don't think you do bad work). Please select "beta" as the track type.

We're trying to understand what problem you have.

ok..

>>One of them is a stadium drag and the other is an air hockey table

That's not very "informative", isn't it? [(-:]

Please post a screenshot of your error.

>>I AM NOT A NEW GUY
ok...

1. Sorry about the new guy thing. (I have anger issues)
2. Here is the error, wait, how do I include a picture?

By the way, is there any way I can include a download in one of my messages? If not, I will post the track in the downloads section as planned. If it works, please don't delete it. I've been meaning to post a track for a while now.

Upload to a place like photobucket then link to it.

Sure, just copy and paste the url in the box where you type.
