Do any of the stock trucks show up?
If they do, but the tracks/trucks you added on didn't, it might mean MTM2 was open when you podded them.

Which guide? We could guess all day and all night but until we know a little more about what you are and aren't doing, then that's all we can do - guess. Give us a little more to go on.

Please note. Cowpod has never been known to make a mistake; it's unlikely it's making one now. But until you say a bit more, who really knows.

  • I assume you have downloaded a track or a truck.
  • I assume you have unzipped it / them to your game folder.
  • I assume you have cowpod.exe in the game folder too.

Now, double click cowpod.exe.

The tracks and trucks that are already in the game appear on the left side.

The tracks and trucks that are available to the game appear on the right side.

When you click a track or truck on either side, it is switched to its opposite side.

So, if you click a track or truck on the left side, you move it to the right side... and out of the game. It has not been deleted, just no longer mounted in the game.

When you click a track or truck on the right side, it moves to the left side, and is now ready to play.

You must now SAVE your changes. Click the save button. You have two options. Save and exit the cowpod program. Or save and launch the game. Both work exactly the same, only if you save and launch then you don't need the extra step of clicking the game icon/menu in order to launch the game.

Trucks appear in the Driver Check in screen. They are listed alphabetically.

Tracks appear in the Races screen. The ones you add on are listed at the bottom of the current list.

Select the track and truck you want, then click The GO button.

If that all seems like common sense and is what you are already doing, then we have two more points to cover.

I downloaded the full game

If you downloaded the game in a zip file, then I will not attest to its integrity. You must download the full game iso and install it from a cd or drive emulator. That is the only one hundred percent sure fire way to ensure proper installation.

and am using Vista

I hear of others using vista for mtm without problems. I also know that vista has many changes from win9x and xp. Unfortunately, since I do not have vista, I'm not in a position to advise on that. So, the best thing to do is make sure the above steps are correct, make sure you run the programs in 9x or xp compatibility mode, and if that fails, hook up with somebody like Fila who already uses vista.

Hope that helps.

I have no problems using it in Vista and apart from the installation (where i either had to run it with admin rights or use compatibility mode) everything works smoothly.

The programs that you will find in the tutorials on this page also work. Cowpod has no problems in Vista for example.

i of course needed admin rights, but i was on admin account, I installed MTM2 after disabling UAC, so I never had a single error installing MTM2 on vista and it worked just fine first try. No compatibility or anything

Make sure the pod.ini file is not "read only"

This's just a shot in the dark but... "hide known file type extensions"?

open your pod.ini with notepad or any text editor... does *.pod* follow each file name?

Image

or

If you don't see your track pods listed at all then the pod mounting program is not finding the directory containing the pod.ini. You need to redirect it or simply edit the pod.ini manually with notepad by adding the track or trucks pod name 'and' increasing the number at the top of the list by one for each addition... just like the example above.

Look at the number at the top, and then count how many pods are in the game currently (the left side of Pod It). If the number is smaller usually the game will work fine but any pods extra (more than the number says) don't show up. Pod It changes the number automatically so I don't know if/how that could have got messed up.

I have kind of a similar problem. I'm making a track that i would like to finish and release, but when i add it to pod.ini the game loads up fine but the track doesn't show up in the track list in-game. Now i notice that i can't add any tracks to it, so it isn't just the one. I know i haven't reached the track amount limit because i took out two track pods and then added the one. I'm just confused because the game loads fine like it recognizes the pod.ini file as correct, but it doesn't recognize anything new to show up in the track list. :?

Could all of these problems be due to the fact your using a downloaded copy of the game not an original.....

That 'could' be the problem but it's not likely... or at least depending on where you get it from.

AvengerFan, do you have the same track appearing more than once in the list? If so, there would be a track naming conflict where the first track shows up and every track with the same name lower in the list shows up as the uppermost track.

This is caused by the fact that all tracks use the first 8 characters of the track name to identify the track in the game. So for example,

Freestyle Indianapolis
and
Freestyle Minnesota

both begin with the same first 8 letters F-R-E-E-S-T-Y-L so whichever is mounted lower in the list will not appear... but the first in the list would appear twice.

I tried installing mtm2 on a vista machine and recall having nearly the exact same problem. Try running Cowpod as admin.

Nope i only had it in there once, and i didn't have any others in there multiple times either. I know what you're talking about though, i've had that problem before many times. Just as an experiment i tried downloading Cowpod and using that. Now it works like a charm. I'm still confused as to what the pod.ini problem is, but i can add new tr*cks with cowpod now. I guess i kind of answered my own question, thanks for the help though. If i have any more questions i'll ask. Thanks.

Obviously something is conflicting Sewilo.

I use Vista and cowpod.
When I switched to Vista I used a link from the draggers that i have included on my page H E R E , from there scroll to "How to install on windows Vista". I had not one single error of any sort. I have also used custom tracks and tracks with no problems at any time, Cowpod finds all and pods. I have no other podding program installed.

If you continue to have these problems and you are sure it is not your download of the game, then uninstall and try as I and a number of other have done without a hitch.

Avenger Fan:
Glad you got Cowpod, because to me sounded like your track is not quite where it should be even though you have put it on the track list. Cowpod could pick it up whereever it is and mount it for you as you have found it seems. That's one amazing little program.
