LCD Monitor question

Can anyone tell me if I would be able to play games such as MTM2 wth this monitor? Here's the url

You shouldn't have any problem at all Scat. I switched from crt to lcd (dvi input) about a year ago.

I also dont think you will have a problem Scatter.

We have one here on the spare computer and games fine.

Beware of the wide versions, bud. I bought a 21" widescreen flat panel last year, and although I love it, MTM 2 looks like . . . well, it kinda looks like you're running in software mode all the time lol. If you can handle that, the wfp's are great. If not, stick the the conventional sizes.

The problem with LCD screens is that they have one native hardware resolution unlike the good ol' CRT screens which could handle a range of resolutions. If you run a game in a different than the native resolution, the display will interpolate or extrapolate to the native resolution. The result is usually quite ugly, except when the scaling is an integer.

Unfortunately the display of MTM2 is fixed to 640x480.
This means that the game will look better on a LCD screen with native 1280x960 (scaling factor 2) than one with for example 1024x768.

IMHO CRT monitors still offer the best quality/price ratio although LCD is improving fast.

No Coach, I can see my crt just fine. I was just thinking about upgrading. But from all the replies that I've seen, I think I'll stick with my 17" crt.

isn't always the most important thing.

Somtimes it's a question of deskspace/price ratio. or screen area/price ratio.

lots of ratios all thrown in together.

Almost everyone can get a free 15" CRT if they ask around; that makes all those 1/price ratios infinity, but who wants a 15" crt?

I personally prefer CRT's. My laptop is of course, LCD, and there is about 16 red burnt out spots on the screen, and its always increasing, and I h8 having to use 1680 X 1050 resolution when im trying to type a program. but any other resolution looks fuzy. and CRT's seem to last forever lol. To me, the 500 dollar CRT 20 inch i got for my gaming PC was a better investment then the 20 inch LCD for 1200 bucks. All I lost was the short back, and my desk is big enough to handle a full sized monitor.
