I'm just curious...everyone is talking about how they want a new MT game, and i know that you got MFR and Mat-allum's game in the development stages. But why don't some of the tr?ck maker's out there get together and make some MT tracks and trucks for 1nsane. The trucks handel just like the real thing. You can do donuts, wheelies, everything! I don't want to say anything against MFR and the Monster WIP projects. But i was just wondering. Also with 1nsane, we would be able to have pro arena truck races too. Thats just an idea i came up with while playing the game. Just thought I would throw it out there.

Lord Cap says Insane is good, and I think it was Jon who recommended it last year. But I've never seen it around here and have never played it, so it's hard for me to appreciate what potential it might have.

Edit. Have no idea why I wrote this. Apparently I thought Project Monster would be better. Go for it, I'll be looking at this game soon.

I recently bought 1nsane via Amazon for the measly price of about $5 plus shipping. It is a good fun game. The race modes are a diversion from the usual MTM race or rumble modes. (There is "capture the flag" for example). The AI is very competitive. The graphics are on a par with Evo2. There is damage to the (generic) vehicles which impedes your progress in a race. Terrain is good but scenery (models) is kept to a minimum.

The reason I bought it was with the hope that I might be able to extract either the textures or models for use in Evo or MTM.... I haven't worked out how to do that yet, but I believe it is possible.

1nsane used to have a large online racing community - leagues, skinmakers, teams, modders, but I believe it kinda died out through lack of support from the publishers. Activision no longer supports this product.

More of an offroading game than monster truck racing. It's fun and a change, but it doesn't have the longivity of MTM. For $5 (or less) it's worth a try.

Another game worth considering which is more in line with MTM (but limited to enclosed tracks) is Tough Trucks , also by Activision.
Which can be got here

I know this is old , but here goes anyway . I bought a big box of discs at a flea market (some time ago) and 1sane was in there . Its a good , fun game .

They also have a decent level editor now ( you can use custom models , but I never got them to work) . The track I was working on got lost in a crash (no back up...duh!!)

Zmodeler supports 1nsane , but once again , I have not got it to work . It does however work because there are addon trucks on the net .

As EmceeMart said , the damage is nice because it does slow your truck down .

If you were to sick this MTM crew on it , I'm sure both custom model tracks and trucks would get figured out in no time .

Too funny, "I wont support a company by actually buying their product but I wish the would hurry up and put out a new one I can steal"

yeah, exactly,, I h8 when people just steal everything. Thats why games are becomming as crummy as they are. Not sure how many people here lived through the video game crash of 1983, but I think we are heading towards repeating history. For those that don't know about it, read up on it here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_crash_of_1983

Heres some poor quality jumpy Vids with a false add about it being DiggerXX for 1nsane. I painted this a little over a year ago using the NOS Digger, and b4 knowing the paint sceem was changed on XX.

How would you think project monster would be better if you never helped with it last couple of months?

A couple of us over at Vales.com were talking about doing something with Monster Trucks and tracks for 1nsane. Problem was that we could not get some of the programs suggested over at insaneheat.com working. I was also told that you could use Traxx to make maps for 1nsane and there was a way to convert .pods over to w/e file format 1nsane uses but thats as far as the thread got. Nobody over there knew anything about MTM1/2 and we dont know anything about 1nsane.

SLO_VS, you look like you have some expierence in creating things for 1nsane so maybe we could get this project back off the ground. All we want to do basically is create a track that would resemble a MT show. Even if its some dirt mounds, as long as it is like a real MT show in some way so we could race online, that'd be awsome. My AIM is snowjunki46 if you want to talk more.

The only thing I've seen has been a very very good version of bigfoot. (with and without the body)

From the readme..

----------------------------------------------------
This is the replica of the most famous monster truck build by BIGFOOT team.
For more information about #14 please visit www.bigfoot4x4.com.

!BETA VERSION!

Features:

extremely hi detailed frame, engine and correct working suspension
complex physic model
over 5.5k rendered triangles (without shadows) - so, if your fps is low it's time for upgrade ;-)
custom calculated [engine] VHT section

real engine sound
realistic handling and behavior ( in advanced controls please set steer speed=10%, steer back=20% and steer idle=10%)
almost realistic damage... :-)
and no lights, sorry...

If you find any problems with this vehicle, please mail to me.
And please, DO NOT edit this vehicle or any of these files without asking me first. Thanks!

Enjoy!
