Faulty Xbox cables recalled

Feb 18, 2005

Microsoft is recalling 14.1 million power cables worldwide for some of its Xbox consoles over fire safety concerns.

Thirty people worldwide have reported minor burns to their hands or property damage from the cables affecting Xboxes made before the 23rd October 2003.

Of those, seven reported minor burns to their hands when the units overheated and 23, including one in New Zealand, reported smoke damage or carpet burns.

The Consumers Institute says Microsoft should either recall the power cables which pose a fire hazard, or warn customers to destroy them.

Head of the Consumers Institute David Russell says the cables could be dangerous if left lying around.

The cable can be ordered by going to the website www.xbox.com, or by phoning 0800 880 029.

Hmm, I guess Fords aren't the only thing burning up, maybe its the ignition switch. ;)

Thats not a flame for Ford lovers, I work for Ford, just struck me as funny considering all the recalls I've been through. hehe.

That's OK, since GM just had a recall that came out after Ford's that include items like malfunctioning brakes, sticking gas pedals, and windshields that pop out in minor collisions [:P]

News folks here in Denver did a story about autoglass companys in the Denver area putting windshields in and not letting people know that they need to set a couple days because the climax and thin air up hear. Ladie went out the windshield of her car when she slamed on the brakes, her car ran her over.
