just for knowledge, in photoshop you would go to "image> mode" then look down where theres options for 8 bit or 16 bit.

Tyler is talking about Photoshop. That's a different program. If you have PSP (paint shop pro) then follow the image above.

You must have your image open. You can't set color depth on an image that isn't there.

It doesn't get easier than psp. Open the program. Now, open your image.

Or. Just to help you along.

Look at your desktop. Press the print screen button on your keyboard. Now open psp. Now click the paste button on the toolbar.

You'll catch on.

Ok 1 more time, i still get the same message when i try loading the picture i take in the track components {Bitmap must be uncompressed, 8 bit}, what is going on {Well able 2 take pictures, got them 2 8bit, but how do you pre-set attributes. Ever time i set them to 257 $ 210, all i get is the left corner of the picture. Can they be pre-set to size needed, Thanks

Charles, I thought you were using trackview to take your pictures. Track view will adjust the size correctly if you want it too. Then you open in psp, reduce colors, and "save as" bmp.

If, however, you want to learn the ins and outs of a paint program, this is probably not the best way to go about it. In that case, it's better if you do the truck repaint tutorial. That'll get you into the paint program much better than this kind of fooling around. If all you want is a picture for the track, send it to one of us and we'll convert it. The instructions above are as basic as you can get, but if it's still a problem, don't beat your head against the wall with it. Let's just fix it and move on.

Take your time to listen, read up, and learn Charles, it seems to me that you're just very impatient and that only leads to frustration.
Learning to use a paint program is a very important and valuable step up in track making and they just don't come any easier to use than paint shop pro, but, there is a lot that psp can do and it will take some time to get familiar with it all, even I still learn new things it can do and I've been using it for a few years now.

btw, I have no colledge pedegree neither, heck I dun't even have a high scool diplomat... :)
