Good free webspace is hard to get these days, especially if you need lots of space. One service I can recommend is xoom.it, which is good old Xoom, alive and well in Italy. The best thing I can say about the service is that space is unlimited, there are no annoying pop-up windows and the service has been steady.
Xoom.it has been online and operational since March of 1999, it lasted through the NBCI buyout of Xoom.com and it's subsequent downfall, and it appears to still be going strong. I first signed up in December of 2001 and have been monitoring things regularly since then, I have seen some slow days when uploads and downloads are <i>very</i> slow but most of the time they have been up and running well. I suspect that with such a sweet webspace deal there must be a lot of traffic at peak hours, accounting for the slowness you'll experience.

How to get a free Xoom website:
Go to <A HREF="http://xoom.it/" TARGET=_blank>http://xoom.it/</A>
Click "Spazio Web Illimitato" at the top (meaning: Limitless Web Space)
Enter a valid e-mail address and click the continua button.
Fill in the form as shown (and translated - in blue) in the attached image. Red asterisks are required fields.
Agree (accetto) to the terms of service and click the button at the bottom of the page.
In minutes you will receive an e-mail with a membership confirmation link you must click, a successful visit at that link will establish your account and you'll receive another confirmation e-mail with the login info you need.
