I've encountered problems with this before and it's always been tricky to figure out, but I think I have it right, this time. Right now, all times are set to EST to account for daylight savings (GMT-6). I don't know what that'll mean come the fall, but we'll see then. Please just update your profile for your own time zone and it "should" be fine from here on out. Sorry for the confusion, but I was, uh, confused.

p.s.. The new post indicators should also work from this point on as well ;-)

p.p.s. On second thought, I'm still not completely satisfied. Please bear with me while I sort it out.

Ooh, per-user message timestamping, nice. I gotta try this out.


Ok, just in case you need some feedback:

My computer clock is set to GMT +10 hours, and shows the time correctly at 3:51pm

I set my time zone to GMT +10 hours in my profile, and the board is telling me my message was posted at 5:51pm. Oop.

Did I say I was not completely satisfied? Phin's tech talk coming up (skip it if you prefer):

I'm well aware of the strife that daylight savings, coupled with the other-side-of-the-world thing, would be causing here. Thought you could use some input into how your present settings would look on a computer in a different timezone far, far away.

Silly idea: let's use NET instead.

Edit. HTML doesn't seem to work, even though I have it enabled...

I appreciate it. And, actually, you pushed me to find a better solution than I had before. The standard programs were nearly impossible because of arcane command options. Eventually, I landed on the correct utility and now we're probably as good as it can get. (I wanted server time to be EST, but had to settle for CST - because that's where it's hosted).

It's a good idea, but the forum scripts aren't equipped.

Speaking of not equipped, the forum has very rigid html restrictions. A medium term project will be to loosen things up.
