Has anyone got this error before?

<IMG SRC="http://ftp.teamslo.com/imup/error.jpg" border=0>

I got this after downloading these pods:
Fastandf.pod
Gmplus.pod
And there was a fixmore.pod in there somewhere to.

Does anyone know what the problem could be and how to fix it?
thanx

Phin's page shows many possible causes, but most of the time for me, it's a missing texture from the POD when trucks are involved....where did you download them from? I can give 'em a look-over and let you know.

Be careful when merging PODs from other authors...you don't know if they renamed the files of scrapyards parts used on their trucks.

Likewise, sometimes 2 different authors may use the same custom filename by accident...running them together in a race and viewing them in RACECAM view usually will identify conflict problems...

If you merge your own model PODs, make sure all trucks have unique filenames for each unique model or texture or text file (shared items like using the EXACT SAME tires on 2 trucks in the merged-pod don't require unique filenames)

I'll use PODmate2 to merge trucks, but only sets of similar trucks (like my moonracers) or variations of the same truck (like 2 versions of a monster truck, one with a body-on-frame and one that's frame only. I keep unique trucks separate.

I've learned over the years that most people don't like to download large "truck packs", and such packs don't really allow more trucks to be podded in MTM2. (there's a limit on TRK files in the game, and those don't get merged).

I got a new error after making a repaint of the Stallion truck.

<IMG SRC="http://www.mwg.mw-gaming.com/FileUploader/Uploads/error2.jpg" border=0>

Can some one help me. This has been hapening every time I try to race in MTM2, so it won't let me into the actual race. I can't fix it. Maybe it is just my computer. If you would like to figure it out I can send you the pod.
Thanx

How did you replace the texture? If you used mdmre's bin texture replacer you should use the same number of characters in the new file name as in the old file name.

If you still have trouble either bigdogge or myself will fix you up. So far it's looking good.

Turn all your Reflections off, in the game's options.

Really? I never knew that. And I don't think I ever had a problem with it either.

Nowadays, whenever I replace textures (either with MDMRE or Binnamer) I open and save the model in BinEdit immediately after... This rebuilds the file so you don't have potentially half-corrupted model files, plus sometimes when replacing textures you can end up with multiple references to the same texture file, and this eliminates that.

I don't recall having to use the same number of characters in the new RAW name using MDMREs either......but doing so does help new truck-makers avoid errors....it's good advice

I DO recall that if I used more than 8 letters in the name, then MDMRE's proggy would overwrite the .RAW extension
(Example: by calling it newbigft1.ra - with 9 letters, the "W" in RAW is pushed off the name). Now BINedit won't accept it, and MDMRE's can't reload it to repair in many cases.

I had to use HexWorkShop to repair the names afterwards when that happened...eventually, I began to use it more often.

Now I use a hex-editor program all the time for texture replacing. No size limitations...

HOW?
--------------------------------------------

OK, I spent some time today writing up a tutorial on using HexWorkShop, but it should be usable for any hex-editor.

I wrote it as a wordpad documant, complete with graphics to simplify the directions.....It's been converted to a web page by Phineus...link below.

Please let me know if this TUT (toot?) successfully teaches you to replace textures on your MTM2 BIN models. It took me a few hours to create...

Same as above, send it my way.

I'll have a look at it too. Your choice.

BD or me can figure out what's not "Jiving".

You can't know if people reply if you don't check back. There have been replies from the very beginning.

More determination, less impatience.

How weird....why would someone post a question if they believed they wouldn't be answered? Yo got a reply 4-minutes after you hit submit...didn't you even check back once? I'm confused on this one....

Oh well,....we're still here to help,.....if you are still having errors, post the details here in this thread you already started for that purpose, and we will do what we can....and we ALWAYS respond to those who ask for tr?ck-making help....

P.S.....I answered your painted flames question in the other thread already, so no need to repeat that one here... ;-)

Looking forward to your first machine bro.....don't rush it just for the thrill of uploading it (as many have done before you)....take your time and enjoy the fun of the project itself....that's the best part!
