Does anyone have any extra ideas for theme based tracks? I am still drawing blanks.

This one has a theme. Perhaps you're making the process too difficult. Find something you like. Then make it.

Any ideas as to what to do with a theme like it? At first I didn't want to remake it but if it comes down to it I will. So any ideas to make it better or more like a theme?

P.S. what do the little flags next to tracks on the tracks page mean?

I wasn't suggesting to remake it, but to point out how basic a theme can be. If you're going to remake something, then perhaps the thing to do would be to find an mtm1/2 track that has a theme and then update it. We've learned a lot since the old days so a lot of things could be improved by today's standards. Take, for instance, The Couch. Innovative for it's day, but technically challenged. The same might be said for "driving in a hurricane." What could be done to that to make it look and drive better? The trick here, with themes, is not to try and find some undiscovered secret but to make something in which all the elements are consistent with one another... and make it look and drive well.

Ideas? Hmm. Where's SIGage? Or the ever imaginative non-track making BigDOGGe at? He could probably throw you a bone. One idear - browse DigBOGGe's collection of vehicles and make a track to suit some. I suppose it couldn't hurt for any passers by to post anything that comes to mind. I hear Fila needs some ideas too.

Hmmmmm, lemme think...

How about a track with a Car Wash in it? Maybe a city, where you have to go thru a huge CW.
Or, a Military Base? With big scorched black holes in the ground? Blown apart buildings? Maybe an Iraqi city? lol.
Or, a huge pro football stadium, with people sitting on the sidelines, and players on the field, that scream when you drive over them?
Or, an old Greek or Roman city, that is having a Chariot Race, and you have to drive on the same track?
Or, a huge pooltable? Where you can actually drive into the pockets, and drive around on a lower level, where the balls are kept, with tunnels and stuff, kinda like Zoon's Subway track?
Or, following the same lines as the pooltable, how about an Aircraft Carrier? There can be planes all on a lower level, and you can launch your truck off the flight deck?
Or, how about driving around inside a Computer tower?
Or, how about a Circus? With animated animals, and a Big Top?
Or, how about an actual farm? When you can drive around in the yard and go up into the barn's loft? Drive around in a pasture, with huge cows standing around, and tractors, Like Zoon Kitchen?
Or, how about a farm, in the middle of a Tornado? With a big Twister off in the distance? With torn apart buildings? Farm equipment laying all over?

Ok, now my brain hurts...
If I think of any more, I'll edit this post.

DigBOGGe? ...there's a new slip.....it's all good ;-)

If you need ideas, we DO need some more ST-tracks.....perhaps a flat paved course for road-racers or a flat dirt track (figure-8?) for the new sprint car racers. With a few flat paved tracks, I'd be tempted to make more road cars & trucks (Musclecars? Exotics?) Off-road tracks are good to have as well.

Some people have mentioned that they don't like to use ST-track-convertors (lazy bums), so more stand-alone ST tracks are desired.

--------------------what else?-------------------

One idea I had long ago was called ZO-HEADQUARTERS...the track started outside the "building" in the parking lot ( member's names would be seen on RESERVED FOR signs at several stalls), and drove through the front double doors to the "main course".....the path took you through areas like a PROTOTYPE TRUCK SHOP, a pass thru the large meeting room (watch those folding chairs fly! Watch for the coffee and donuts table!) up & down the hallways (portraits of past members on the walls), past president ZOp_Piston's office (who knows what's ging on in there?), up to the rooftop parking area, back down the emergency stairs, etc.....perhaps something like that, but make it MTMG headquarters...(heh heh) The ZO track was never made.

Don't ask me for inspirations for a drag or freestyle track...don't care for 'em.

There we go, great ideas all around!

I like the pool table and farm ideas (one of my early model edits was opening up the Farmroad barn and adding a loft). After posting earlier I was thinking that miniaturizing our trucks (couch, cucumber chaos, kitchen) seems to provide the most prospects for themes.

BigDOGGe, in truth it was deliberate, truly with no offense intended, having spelled it once already I was just being silly and making sure you were awake out there, sorry I couldn' resist. ;-) I like your headquarters idea too, which reminds me, long ago I had visualized a "school" track following much the same format as your headquarters (in terms of it being large complex), so I'm adding that to the mix, we've probably all been in one so I don't think I need to spell out any particulars.

Also worth checking out: Indoor Racing by Andy, this would have been a perfect Expo contribution I think.

Which reminds me! I was trying to contact some folks who took part in the last Expo, I heard back from Andy in mid March and he said (among other things) "I'll look into it, in the meantime, give my best to all the folks there."

"There" being "here" of course, so there you have it folks (sorry for the message delay).

Dang, Rep Fan... a couple of those suggestions are already half-done, sitting on my "delayed" shelf here! And some others (garage/car wash) are part of my "Second Story Man" city-setting track! I'm glad ya didn't hit uopn the one(s) I decided to enter in the Expo! (All I need is for someone else to come to the party in the same outfit! LOL!)

Wow! Hiya Andy ;-)

And while I'm here, hiya BoGGE hehe

> All I need is for someone else to come to the party in the same outfit!

Okay, this one I can related to. But, think, you mean like everybody making a straight-a-way track? There are worse things than having the same theme. At least you could be sure the styles would be very different, and it could be fun seeing how differently the same ideas can be drawn out.

And I have no objection to ZO headquarters. In fact, I think I'll add that as an extra in my own track. Prolly not as elaborate as you describe, but I have an underdeveloped area and that would fit nicely.... and of course if an mtmg headquarters were going to be made it would have to be a castle or palace or the taj mahall, lol.... and there's a couple more themes.

A pool table type thing was what I originally wanted to do, but more like a bar instead of just the table. I wanted pool cue's and the little chalk things but I can't make models.

Go for it KD. I'm sure there are plenty of us here that could help you out with the models.

Here's a shot from the satellite some spies managed to take. It represents the early geographical relief (corrosion hasn't started yet so ground will be changed) of Plunder Island. (yeah i found a theme to work with).

Have you noticed that a track called POOL HALL was already entered? Or is there some tie-in between Kdawg and SLO_HotSHoe, and I'm just babbling to the wind? (heh heh)

It doesn't matter that there is a similar theme between two people. It will be interesting to see how different each turn out. Just to make sure i've taken a look at Shoe's track and it is entirely different than what I picture mine to be. So it will show how different people think.

trickshots...
Like Fila said... pure coincidence. I'd written exhaustively to both HotShoe and Kdawg, and they have been in contact with each other, all is settled and all is well. In light of the similarities they decided to share their projects, privately, and I think it's all for the best.
