For some reason, when insert the correct UBB code and/or HTML code (sometimes I try both) for inserting an image, the image doesn't show up. I can access the image fine in my browser, but it doesn't want to show up in my posts. Any suggestions?

I think it's something that I did wrong, because I can't post images at KC's forum either...

It may not be anything you've done. Some hosts don't allow direct linking to images. In fact, most free servers don't. As long as you use <img src=""> then you should be fine on any place except road rage ;-) ... as long as the host lets you link to images. If you want to test it, just try to put in an image hosted here or kc's. That'll let you know soon enough if it's you or the host.
