 Post subject: Stock Tire Replacement?

A fellow member mentioned the other day that he had been looking for a good tire replacement for stock tires. I was wondering if it would be worth my time to do a "truck3.pod" or something like that with the SIR tires I recently made.

I'm still not 100% go on this, but if it is something people would want to have for online racing and whatnot, plead here [;)]

I compared the size in zmod, tires side by side, and Jammer brought up a point; less ground clearence. To me, the only way we would know if thats a true factor is by actually testing them.

If these tires gonna be used for your dragging replicas then leave them. In truth all we need is a decent test, then we will see how they handle.

That's pretty much the questions I'm asking. I don't want to make a big deal out of it, just seeing if you guys wanted an 'option 2' for online racing. I wouldn't overwrite the other pod, I'd just make a new one so you could chose between the two in game.

I think adding more attractive tires to the next fixall would be a good idea. I actually made my own stock-tire replacement since I use Wildfoot for online racing and prefer the slick tires you guys make these days.

The tire model is purely visual. It has nothing to do with the ride height, handling, steering, or torque of an MTM2 truck. Your laptimes will be the same no matter wha tires you have.

MTM2 doesn't have 'scrape points' for tire models. All tires are assumed to be stock size. Thus, the axel's distance from the ground is a fixed value in mtm2.

If your tire model's radius is too small then it will appear that your truck is floating in the air. If the radius is too big then it will appear that you are driving in deep mud (part of the wheel will stick into the ground).

Examples of trucks with toobig or toosmall tires:

Not true completly. Moving the tires on the X axis can greatly affect your vehicles handling.

He's just talking about the tire itself, and not editing the stats in BINEdit (Or NotePad).

However, if you DO move the tire (& Body, Shocks, Axels, etc.) up in the model editing screen (The Translate Model Option), it can be seen above ground.
