I just found my first real gripe with Vista: Sound Recorder has been neutered to the point where you:

1. Can't change the format of the recording.
2. Can't increase/decrease volume and pitch.
3. Can't copy, paste, and cut parts of recordings.
4. Can't even play back recordings.

Any suggestions on a free recorder? Or perhaps the XP version? I have a truck to finish but want to make a sound file for it first.

Audacity is supposed to be pretty good. Look it up on source forge. It's free.

I've heard good things about Gold Wave but don't know if it's free.

Turns out I had an old copy of Goldwave on my comp that was part of the backup I made to transfer over from the old Dell...but now I think my mic broke :x

I'll figure something out...I want to release this thing by the end of the week.

Try using your headphones. Plug it into the line in or mic in, then speak info the ear phones. It works, really, it does.

Oh, and my Goldwave demo allows 150 actions before you need to close and restart it. Considering I know what I'm doing when it comes to MTM2 sounds, it's all good.

Nice looking rig. Hey, and they gave it a run this year too.

For what it's worth, my introduction to the game came from watching esposito and orr play the leafs during the playoffs... long long ago. I actually saw orr go down live on what would become his career ending injury.

ty ty. The Orr days are well before my time. My dad and I used to watch it when I was young on WSBK here in Boston. I grew up in the Bourque/Neely/Oates era, and used to be upset when it wasn't on. I started paying less attention in high school as the futility of the team started to shine through, but I got back into it after the lockout. This year, the "experts" kept saying that the team didn't have a shot at all, but not only did they make the playoffs, they almost knocked the Habs out. They're about 2 acquisitions away from being totally awesome, I'm hoping Hossa is available for the taking over the summer.

BTW, in relation to the shocks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5gRf-64FnE
