Hi all, sorry for not being around for so long but a few things have changed in my life. I am now living in Belize. Actually we've only been here 2 days so far, still on the hotel circuit until we find a place to rent or buy. This country is beautiful. I'll post some pics when I establish an ISP (I'm using the hotel's right now).
'bye for now
Mart

Thanks for the Wiki link Mal. If you scroll down to Districts and click on Cayo/San Ignacio - that is where we're headed.

From what I read its in Central America.

Up until 1973 it was known as British Honduras, and is the only official English-speaking country in Central America.

It sure looks like paradise to me! My kind of place to live.

We are now in San Ignacio. Found a house to rent . Made lots of friends.... most appreciated and wanted, some not so. We are living and learning!
The guidebooks about this country lie. In San Ignacio (inland West Belize and 6 miles from the Guatamala border) we have found doctors, dentists, bookstores, an opthalmist and just about any thing you wish . The guidebooks tell you that these things are only available in Belize City - not true.
The house we have rented has Mango and coconut trees in the huge backyard. Today at about 3 in the afternoon I realised why hammocks are popular... that is about the time you get in yer hammock with a rum and Coke and enjoy the Belize breeze. Gotta go, laters folks.

dern it. I want your weather. 3 in the afternoon here in the UK is the time when people say, "Let's go inside, I guess it's not going to stop raining after all."

Sounds great! Methinks you'll have to make it into an MTM2 track so we can churn our trucks over it :D

Enjoy it bud.

They are not much of a problem to get rid of though. You know you have one by the telltale "breathing hole" on the surface of your skin. Also they hurt when they start moving! [:P] All you do is block the hole with vaselene or sunblock, stick a bandaid over it, then a couple hours later squeeze the dead bug out like a zit. [nyuk]

The nasty stuff is offset a hundredfold by the beautiful things this country has to offer. Everyday when I wake up it's like another day in paradise.

We have rented an unfurnished house and are busy buying things for it - including a kitchen sink!

Thanks for all the replies... will keep you posted as things develop

Funny thing is that before you posted here about your move i'd never heard of Belize... then shortly thereafter last week this was in the local news,
Doctors thought the strange, bleeding bumps on Aaron Dallas' head might be from gnat bites or shingles. Then the bumps started moving.

Yeah, I checked one of the videos at wikipedia where they used duct tape and a pair of tweezers to extract a few from a guys back... interesting :o)

Other than that the place looks awesome. Best of luck to you.
