Hey all - got a guy (SLO_PaPa) who's interested in breaking into the model making field...for MTM 2 that is, not runway models lol. Would greatly appreciate it if those who see this post could post links to tutorials/sites he should be looking at in order to get a good start?

Thanks in advance! :)

Here you go

Drive2Survive has two more sites (geared to truck making) but they tend to be more advanced. Once he has the basics down pat (from the link here) he can move on to those.

MTMG has much more than that...if you'd like to browse afterwards:
http://mtm2.com/~mtmg/

When you've exhausted that supply, Malibu350 has a large assortment of Tutorials and utility programs....:

P.S....Drive2Survive is where I started......

Be sure to let him know that if he has any questions about any part of model making that may have him stumped, and everybody does at one point or another, that we're all more than happy to help out here, all he (or anyone else) has to do is ask.

the hardest question to answer imo is "how do I make a model" ...well I can give you the basics but that would just be a general answer and may not be of much help, probably not much help at all, especially for a beginner, it'll just throw more confusion in to the whole deal... now if someone were to ask 'hey how do i make a house' or 'how would i go about building a blimp' I would give two completely different answers since there's many different ways to go about making a bin depending on just what it is that you want to create.

I would highly recommend to anyone that's just getting started is to first grab a model that's already done, anything from my site or phins archive are free for all to do anything that they want to with, something that's close to what you want to make would be good, then load that model up in binedit and learn all the basic functions from the tutorials mentioned above to alter the shape and textures into something you want, after you become comfortable with the various functions your binediting skills will grow rapidly.

I plan on doing some specific tutorials myself that will be presented in a different way than what's been done already but that has to wait until we have BinEdit2 ready to roll out.
