getting closer...

Image

but I swear between Phin and Fila the pfffft brothers this thing will never be done... we're getting started on the mp3 player interface today.

my original 5 thing forcast for a release proved false, my apologies to all for that, but when one chage affects other functions, the problem solving / debugging can become quite time consuming and deceiving when trying to nail a release time frame... but once this is ready you're going to love what you see, this I promise...

Lightwave? 3D Studio Max? lol those are carp and they cost way too much :o)

stay tuned...

*Stares at Model Rotation dialog box*

*Stares at Translate Model dialog box*

*Stares at Model Rotation dialog box again*

Hang on... how is that supposed to work if there's no axis-specification there...?

Oh, that's right... BinEdit has seperate menu commands for rotating about each of the three axes, and hence pops seperate dialog boxes for each... wouldn't it be groovier if the Rotation dialog had X, Y and Z fields like Translation?

I don't know if it's worth the effort to implement, or even necessarily a better setup than what exists presently, but hey, it's not like I'm asking for an MP3 player :P ...

You mean like this?

Better ask while you have the chance.

what the hecks is a radian? a citizen of radii? [:P]

heheh I'm way ahead of ya, what you see is just a first build, a test puppy if you will... knobs, buttons and panels can go anywhere once it's wired up... and at this point she's wired to go... and one more thing I forgot to mention yesterday...

Image

and..

"Merge close vertices" function now automatically removes collapsed faces

cycle selected faces (G keystroke) and vertices (B keystroke)

support for 128x128 & 512x512 textures (a evo thing)

and a smorgasbord of other things I can't remember at the moment...

thanks for the comments guys, given the tremendous amount of time put into this, and I mean a boatload, you have no idea how much it means that at least 3 ppl give a rats behind besides myself lol..

It's not like i am of any help... but then again Phinny is always more technical and realizes what something needs way ahead of me so when i realize something Glow Ball already asked for it.

>> You mean like this?

Yep, though I later realised it's flawed... rotation operations aren't communtative, ie. if you do a series of rotations in a particular order, those same operations in a different order won't necessarily yield the same results.

For example,

Before pic.

Rotate about X by 45° then Y by 45°.

Rotate about Y by 45° then X by 45°.

Rotate about X by 45° then Y by 45°, then try to undo it by rotating about X by -45° then Y by -45° (needs to be reverse order).

Therefore, having X, Y and Z fields on a rotation dialog won't work as well as it does for rotation, since the order in which the rotations are to be applied needs to be defined or else the results may not be what was intended. (Or maybe have a set of radio buttons so that X, Y and Z rotations cannot be applied simultaneously?)

>> chick friendly, or no?

I was unaware any chickens used this utility...

Good point D2S... you are correct

as it stands now when doing multiple rotations simultaneously with binedit it follows the x-y-z order... a solution opposed to disabling multiple rotations by adding radio buttons would be the ability to define the order in which the x-y-z coordinates are implemented.
