Hey Guys,
First time to post.
When copying and pasting terrain I had strange things happening when I copy and paste with the grid set to anything but a square.
Example: 4x6 = weird, but 4x4 or 6x6 is fine.
Is this the only way(square grid)?
I did all the Traxx School lessons and looked at the Traxx info on this VERY FINE site.
It never mentioned it had to be square.
Thought this info might be of use to other new track makers.
Thanks

P.S. Been running some tracks downloaded from this site and there are some great ones.

What sort of problems or weird results do you get?

You should be able to copy and past a square or any size retangular set of textures in traxx from place to place no problem, the only time you'll see weird results is if you try to rotate a group of textures with a rectangular selection, rotating needs to always be done with a square selection.

I just did a 6x7 copy and paste yesterday, coincidentally, and it was fine. Could it be that the orientation (slider or tab key) was in a 45 degree setting?

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have no problem pasting textures but it's with pasting terrains where I have the trouble.
With orientation slider all the way to the left and Width=10 Height=3(grid shows 2x9)If I copy a rectanular of a mound and I am facing north with the mound runing west to east. Then paste it without any rotation, it makes a valley with Width=2 Height=6 all the way to zero altitude runing north to south.
Thanks.

Yep, it seems you've found a bug. I tried a few different ways and the results were inconsistent. Copying just flat terrain seems to get the worst results, and then the further from a square you get the worse things become.
I don't know what to tell you at this point other than try to work with square areas. I don't think Guitar Bill is planning to update traxx.

Phineus, thanks for taking the time to try this yourself.
I was hoping it was something I was doing wrong.
Traxx is still a great program and I think it was very generous of Guitar Bill
to let it be freeware.(think I may send him some money anyway).
MTM2 came with my sidewinder force wheel software.
I have several racing games, but once you know all the tracks they get old.
Being able to make your on tracks is what makes this sim so good.
Plus you can download great tracks from people like you guys.
