1999 saw a bumper crop of tracks released with nearly 800 submissions made, nearly double that of any other year. In '99 we saw Yeastman, Badger, ValveJob, ObeOne, Rudee, World, Sleeper, S p r e k e r, and Spazmonstr... Team Death, Amadeus, Attitude, OOPS, MIYH, Newt, Alpine, Trap, Da Ben King, and Gage... ZooN, Executioner, EmmaSW, Inky, Mudder, Bug 4, Outlaw Jon, Bf4x4, Twisted, Chucklez, Devildog, TikiMaster, Nrrivas, RaRRRR... Fastrux, 302boss, and Angus.. Dav, Moparz, mike204, Spider, ONaN, Frenchie, Triptrap, rough, PinWzrd, Bugsbunny, Zero, Cavemn, Reospeed, Sir James, LiteningZ@P... Die Blechtrommel, Bad311, Iwunagan, EEEEEMan, DmndDave, EZEmony, SlyFox, Garret Lockhart, Wild_Thing, JoeysWeels, Psyco, Zeus, GeneralLee, VETTE and many more, at the top of their game, hard at work giving us some of the best tracks this game has seen to date.

One of my personal favorites was Team Death, for two reasons, one is that he always strived to be creative while keeping a good sense of humor about it. Two, his tracks were always top quality drives, very raceable, and fun. TD began building tracks about six months before I did and these two here are the first he did (12/98 & 1/99), if you're familiar with his other tracks at all you'll immediatly recognize a few of his trademarks here.

Most of you are probably aware of this but Team Death went on to work at TRI for a while building models and tracks for the 4x4 Evo2 series, two of which I converted over to mtm2, Deadman's Gulch and Skull Islands, perhaps more but those two I'm sure of.

The Madland's

Have Fun! That's what it's all about.

Great stuff, Mal. Yeah, I stumbled into the Zone around Sept of '99. Had the game for a couple of months prior to, but I didn't know a thing about game play over the internet. I think my first add-ons were from the MTM 2 site; it had a couple of trucks and tracks and it "sorta" explained how to add them to your game. When I finally figured it out, I was hooked. LOL funny thing is I can still remember the excitement I had when I saw that I had successfully added a new truck to the game. At that moment MTM 2 was the only game in the world lol. Shortly thereafter I discovered KC's, ended up in a room with 3 other guys; nmeily3047, jdak, and TurboTA, who incidentally later became SLO_N8, SLO_JDAK, and SLO_TurboTA respectively. But prior to forming SLO we passed tracks back and forth that we found, but for some reason I really became mesmerized by the whole deal, eventually becoming the guy to say "Hey, have you guys seen this track by so & so? It's awesome!!" lol.

I wish I had known about the MTM community earlier, but at the same time I'm dang glad I got to experience some of the early years. The game was so popular and so many people raced - it was really a heck of a lot of fun.

As for Team Death, the very first track I ran by him was "Stampede", and I loved it. He's definitely in a class by himself where track making is concerned, and even though he's long gone from the game, he'll undoubtedly make the cut when it comes time to submit names for the MTM Hall of Fame. Oh, and I'm the emcee for that by the way - just thought I'd plug myself lol.

Man, this post took me back down memory lane seeing all those names. Again, great stuff, bud! ;)
