Malibu, have you found an idea of the object(s) you want to build ? :) I'm curious ! Tee hee [;)]

Is there any 3D creator who want to participate on the ZooN Kitchen 2 team ? you're welcome ! ( Any house object can be interesting, since 50% of the track need to be created and can be inspired from the models )

Here is the first screen of ZK2, an alpha version, so, there's only a big jump on the ZK1 table with pizza boxes (who will certainly be changed) :

See you :D

In the past few days/weeks/months my times been focused on binedit 2.0, getting it ready for a test release, I haven't even taken any time out for my own expo track... the good news is that it's at a point where I can start useing it to make a few living room items with it as test models.... what I had in mind (based on my living room) would be a TV (with the ZooN girls on the screen:o), a couch, recliner chair, coffee table, a couple end tables with a couple lamps, possibly a fire place which could probably be done with ground boxes but we'll need a grate and a couple logs to go in it, perhaps a animated ceiling fan would be good... you name it, if you can use it I can make it, and so could BigDogge, he's one of the best modelers in town :o)

Like I said, I haven't started on anything yet but will as soon as today or tomorrow... in the meantime ZooN if there's anything you need asap let me know, or if anyone else gets started on something let me know what it is and I'll do the same, so's we don't double up on anything :o)

Salut

First of all, I would like to thanks you again for the 3d modelling help you can do for ZK2 :D
About your last message, since the final date of dead line contest will maybe change, don't you prefere to build a theme track ?
I don't want to participate to the killing process of your inspiration if you work on 3D modelling instead of traxx on your hown theme track ... you know what I mean ? (oops, my english ... sorry [uhoh] )

Secondly, a TV model already have done on ZooN Kitchen 1 by "§nake ßite", the model is "zksnbtv.bin" and it look like this :
Image

So, do what ever you want, I think it is much better to let you chose what will be enjoying to create instead of doing "boring model" if you don't like the idea [;)]
ObeOne will maybe create a "sofa" :P

Merci beaucoup, Malibu350 and ObeOne !

Zoon, doubt you remember me but I've sent you a few notes at KC's and here before and you replied to a few...Let me just say that you are one of the greats and I enjoy your tracks a lot...you're one of the people that's inspired me to create things for the game myself, and I am still working on my very first circuit for the Expo also (I mostly do drag races that simulate real monster truck racing). Anyway, I just wanted to say that I'm glad you're with us again, and I'd love to see you stick around.

Thanx a lot for your comments Robby :)

See you there :D

Let me take a shot at the ceiling fan, if you want one.....Maybe it will give me a chance to try animated BINs.....if I have little success, then I know I could make one with animated textures instead....

Or would you rather have a room-fan.....maybe one of those large 20-inch box-fans seen on the floor of many homes.....I have one here at home....

Image

...the track can run right through it (as if you were passing between the blades of the slowly spinning fan)...blades are no-collide, of course. I'll put a "hole" in the lower part of the broken plastic "grill" for the trucks to pass thru.....it could also serve as a checkpoint, so racers don't go around it.....

Would that be better than a ceiling fan?

Hey hey, this is great stuff. A new Zoon track? Awesome man, surely another effort destined for the MTM2 Tracks Hall of Fame.

One thing about Zoon tracks, as with many of our beloved track makers, you may lose a race on 'em, but you'll never lose out on any fun for haveing raced ON them! Always a pleasure to run a Zoon masterpiece!

Thanx a lot for your comments SLO jdak :)
Last years I got lot of ideas of tracks to create but has several reasons who stopped me... This time I will try to released something who willn't need thousand hours of work (because I can't). That's why I would like to thanks again all 3D modelers for the help :) Malibu, ZOtm_BigDOGGe and ObeOne.

ZOtm_BigDOGGe :
Great idea, passing through a celing fan, tee hee :P , a virtualy dangerous challenge where you need to remain in one piece [bump]
Thanx for joining the ZK2 team BigDOGGe :D

Ho, something important :
I was viewing at the TRAXX statistics of ZK2 and the textures folders, the original models and textures are using a lot of 256x256 RAW files. The used space of one 256x256 textures is the same than the space of 16 textures of 64x64 ..... ( [bump] )
I think this is another important part on this kind of track, we need to optimise the used files to prevent FPS problem about the 3D Card memory work, even if actual hardware are more powerfull than old generation 3D card [:-)]
For example, the spoon of ZK1 was using a 256x256 texture (there were no reason for using a big one like this, since there's only a grey color inside ... without blending ... I fixed it to 64x64. This action has open a space of 15 textures for the same used space ! )
I will also remove 256x256 boards ... to let newer models use this memory space, etc. you know ...

Malibu 350 :
Awesome TV set you've sent me by e-mail ! The old one (ZK1) is particulary poor compared to your good work.
Thanx man :D very good model with surprising details, tee hee [;)]
I was thinking about the BinEdit version you're working on ... Is it an alpha version ? Can I try it ? :)

See you :D

Happy to be a part of the new track....maybe I can make BOTh the ceiling-mounted fan and the floor model....Let's see how it goes.

..And it's better to use eight 64x64 textures rather than use one 256x256 texture....understood.

(8 64x64's are equal to one 256x128 texture in memory space)

I'm not sure ... but I think it will be better if you chose to build one ceiling instead of 2 ...
There's more and more models (including the ZK1 models of course) ... so ...
If you agreed, what about one ceiling and another object instead of 2 ceiling ? :)

Another screen shot of ZK2, this time the ground willn't be your friend ... it will be oil [;)]

See you :D

I got some free time here and there, I'd like to offer my services too. If there are some models that need to be made, I could ease the pressure on some people.

I think it would be a really cool to be a part of this. Glad to see you back Zoon, I have alot of respect for your work bud. You've made alot of great stuff over the years.

I'd be honored to be a part of this. Whoever has some extra stuff they need, just let me know.

OK....just one fan, and then move on to a different home item.

And just so I know the English/French translations are correct:

This is a floor fan.......

Image

...And this is a ceiling fan.....it mounts over your head on the room's ceiling.....

Image

Did you still want the ceiling fan?

ZOtm_BigDOGGe :

Ceiling fan VS Floor fan
Ooops  sorry [doh]
You're right (translation mistake), the floor fan will certainly be better than ceiling fan [;)]
ZK2 haven't any ceiling (the backdrop is simulating this part of the rooms), and this kind of object can't be viewed from floor ... so, the floor fan is a much more better idea of course :)

Rep Fan :
Thanx a lot for your comments and for your future help :)
I was thinking about a transparent glass, since I've seen it's possible to build transparent objects on MTM2.
Do you know how to do so ? Do you agreed with this object idea ? Welcome on the team :)

SLO_Jumper :
Thanx a lot for your comments :) I hope there will have good surprise on the new track ... some area will be the same than ZK1 ... it will not be a brand new world, like you already know [;)]

See you :D

I can do the box fan, no problem.

But the animation might have to be done by someone else, if you do want it that way.

I can make textures Transparent, but they don't always turn out the way they were intended. I'll just have to make it, and try it, and see what happens. Or I could make the grilles out of some bars or something, then they will really be transparent, but also may become Laggy too. I can try some different stuff.

[Btw, why does the guy with the "Fan" in his name, get stuck making the Fan?] :D must be someone's idea of a joke, lol.

LOL!...guess what?

Image

I did this today in a burst of inspiration....took about 2.5 hours. (uses one 64x64 texture). Then I saw your last message....oops!

But that is OK....I can use portions of it to make the floor fan, such as the electric motor........I have some model ideas for it.

You COULD still use the ceiling fan, if you positioned it low enough in the air to be below your truck, as you emerge from a ventilation duct or vent (as in ZK1), so that you will fall through the blades of the fan....the support shaft at the top can be lengthened.

Anyway....

I can do the floor fan, no problem....... or if Replica_Fan really wants to make it, I could try making the drinking glass or another kitchen appliance...I will let R_F decide on the floor fan....

If you (ZOON) don't use the ceiling fan, it will still be available for other track-makers to use (is someone still making a POOL HALL track?...a couple of these would look nice, if the trucks get high enough to see them).

It is possible to make a room using the ceiling fan and it will still look fine. For example, my latest has a unique ceiling part in it that is not ground boxes and has no visibility probelms at all.

Edit: I'm 100% done with it now :D

Your pic didn't work there below BD, but I can modify it if need be. Can't you [Zoon] just make it no colide, instead of having a hole thru it? If not, I'll punch one in it.

It's animated, and the blades don't spin really fast, it looks like it's on LOW, I'm pretty proud of it. My first animated bin! [:P]

OK R.F......looking great...I guess you are doing the spinning blades....send it my way for them if you aren't....

I or you may still have to make the grill "broken" near the lower area on both sides, so trucks can pass throught the box (below the motor)...something like shown in my modified version of your fan-pic displayed below:

Image

I can make that mod when I receive it, if you don't do so.

==================================

Just fooling around, I made a small animated gif of the ceiling fan....when applied as an animated BIN, it's motion should appear much smoother.

Image

Phineus, if you want to use it (or anyone else), I have four fan models with only the blades rotated 22.5 degrees respectively from each other, for a full 90 degrees of rotation (repeating the pattern of 4 three more times will create the illusion of the blades making a full 360 degree rotation, as I did on the GIF shown above).

Here's the four fan BIN models, and the single custom 64x64 texture required to display them...I'm not sure how to create the animated BIN from the models yet.... (I made one, but I don't know where the control bin was saved!)......

....For the animation, I'd suggest 8-frames-per-second to start, then increase the number if it looks too 'jerky".
