I first heard the song "My Favourite Game" by the Cardigans when I watched the intro movie for Gran Turismo 2, which I had just bought. Immediately it became one of my favourite songs. A few months later and I had an idea to make a truck titled My Favourite game, in tribute to MTM2 - ya know it's got to be a great game if we're still playing with it some three years after it was originally released.
I decided to use my Driven2Extremes II truck body that I had just packaged and released for single download for other people to repaint and use as a basis for their own trucks.
Painting it turned out to be a bit of a problem, as up to that point I hadn't actually planned that far. My initial vision was for a black truck, but black is very hard to paint well so I decided to try a different colour scheme of white on the nose fading from ice blue through dark blue to black.
It was, I will say, a complete failure. I scrapped that colour setup and started again.
I wanted a colour scheme that would reflect the aggressive lines of the truck itself. I came up with the dark blue with red 'sails' outlined by white, with yellow lettering. It looked suitably striking, and from there it only took me the rest of the day to complete the truck.
She's a nice ride, but has a few handling quirks you have to learn. The wheelbase is the same as used on Driven2Extremes II "BadVibes" and Driven2Extremes II LTD, so it shares the same handling 'personality'. There's a bit of 'push' or understeer in the steering, which gets stronger if you back off the gas in a turn. The suspension also seems to act a little differently - the rear of the truck tends to bounce fairly hard. However, these are easy to tame, and My Favoruite Game is rapidly becoming one of my favourite trucks.
